Tony Damen, passed away peacefully at LHSC – University Hospital, with family by his side, on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 of Lucan at the age of 74. Beloved husband for 50 years of Carole (Foster) Damen. Loving father of Robert Damen, Daphne Damen and Robert Womack, and Rosemary Damen. Proud Papa of Cole, and Meghan Damen, Connor, and Rhett Womack, Olivia, and Anthony McLeod. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Anne and John Van Sas, John and Sadie, Bert and Jeannine, Bill and Judy, Harry and Sheila, and Mary and Doug Lee. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Tony was born in Didam, The Netherlands on the 3rd of June, 1945. He is the son of the late Bill and Maria Damen.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM. Prayers will be said in the funeral home at 1:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 32922 Richmond Street, Lucan on Saturday, February 29th at 11 AM. Father Ross Bartley presiding. Interment St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Lucan.
Donations to London Down Syndrome Association would be appreciated by the family.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. What a hart breaking moment this was for us. For whatever reason that I missed hearing of the sad news about my dear friend Tony. yesterday. It is with a heavy heart that I feel the loss of Tony and the shared sadness within your family. The depth of loss felt is simply a reflection of how much love joins you to another person. And I can appreciate how deep this well is for Tony. What I’ve learned about loss is that this sense of separation is an opportunity to relate in a new way; over time new connections can form that are uniquely yours and bring you peace. All of you influenced my childhood so beautifully and Tony was certainly a part of it. So many fond memories of him coming in from the barn for lunches with his witty jokes, cheeky laughs, and huge smiles. Remember that day he made me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? He literally smeared pb on one side of the bread slice and jam on the other side. We all laughed until we cried. Bless him for trying. I always felt safe, loved, and welcomed in your home and I recall those days as some of the best years of my life. Tony will always be dear to my heart as will all of you. I love you. I am thinking of you and wishing you all grace.
