CYBULSKI: Ronald “Dawg” John

February 13, 2026 By 34 Condolences

CYBULSKI: Ronald “Dawg” John

CYBULSKI:  Peacefully, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by love, at his residence, on Friday, February 13, 2026, Ronald โ€œRonโ€ โ€œDawgโ€ John Cybulski of Zurich, formerly of Renfrew, age 77.  Loving husband of the late Nancy Ann (Fahner) Cybulski (2017) and loving and supportive companion of 6 years to Debbie Regier of Zurich.  Dear brother of Marlyn Young of Whitby.  Fondly remembered by his niece Jennifer, nephew Scott, other nieces, nephews and their families, Cheryl and Greg Becker and Family, the Regier, Fahner and Overholt families.  Ron will be dearly missed by his friend Rob Rau and family.  Predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Viola (Vincent) Cybluski, brother Gary Cybulski, sister Joan Bilson brothers-in-law Ken Young, John Fahner and Donald Fahner.

Ron began his working career with Ontario Hydro in 1968 and became a member of the IBEW 1788 in 1970 and moved to Bruce Power in 1971.    When Ron finished his apprenticeship he became a Subforman and then continued to rise up to Forman and had a 10 year stretch as an Electrical General Forman, in 2000 he was hired on permanently as First Line Manager, which he maintained until his retirement in 2011, but he continued on working for a contractor for another 3 years.  Work was important to Ron and there was a saying โ€œif you want to get the job done and done right ask Ron.โ€

When Ron wasnโ€™t working he could be found at the Legion enjoying a game of pool, poker or darts, outdoors fishing, hunting or golfing. Ron was game for anything and always a good sport, true gentleman and great friend. He also had a passion for antique cars and wood working, even making some of the furniture in his home.

At Ronโ€™s request, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Ronโ€™s Life will be held at the Zurich Community Centre, 15 East Street, Zurich, on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 1 to 4 p.m. with words of Remembrance at 3 p.m.  Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date, at the Crediton Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. Condolences at www.hoffmanfuneralhome.com

Goodbye is not forever. Goodbye is not the end. It simply means I will miss you until we meet again. Rest easy Ron (Dawg), Love You.

We would like to express our sincere Thank you to Nurse Charlene, Pharmacist Tracy, Dr. Fernandes, the Doctors and Staff at Victoria and Stratford Hospitals and his friends and family for their care, compassion and visits.

My deepest condolences go out to the Cybulski family and friends on the passing of Ron..Tho I never personally worked for Ron when I was hired as an Electrician back in 1974 for IBEW Local 1788 on the construction of Bruce “A” for Ontario Hydro, I knew who he was.. . From what I remember, he was a likeable guy.. always had a good sense of humor,, tho it was a little different than most, to me..Not bad, but different in a good way.. I lost track of him after that period in the 70.s and I went on to retire from Hydro and Bruce Power projects in 2012 as a member of IBEW Local 804 Kitchener..As expected,, he did well for himself.. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.. Rest in Peace,, Brother…

Ron came into the Overholt family, about six plus years ago, such a calm nature and just sat back and took it all in. Let me tell you we can be a lot, we have our own lingo, never finish a story, love to dress up and whole lot of crazy. Thanks Dawg for sticking around. Know that you were an atomic fit! Thanks for loving our sister and taking care of her, she is going to miss you. Heavenโ€™s lucky to have you and so were we. You were such a gentleman to speak at my momโ€™s funeral, a heartfelt toast this year at Christmas, just an all around great person, you were easy to Love. I got to know your sweet sister Marlyn , she points her index finger just like you. Good byes are not forever, Until we meet again, a beautiful soul is never forgotten โ™ฅ๏ธ

So sorry for your loss Deb and family. Dawg was a very wonderful, kind gentleman. Iโ€™ve had the pleasure of having some Michigan golf trips with him. He was always the last guy to bed after a long day of golf, bowling, casino and many drinks in between. He wouldnโ€™t end the day there. It would have to be a trip to the bar across the street for a nightcap or two or three. He will be greatly missed by many people. Rest in peace Dawg. Pat Flanagan.

So sorry to hear about Ron. Over the years I chatted with him alot about work at the Bruce. When I started as an apprentice Ron was foreman of the Cadilac crew. Everyone wanted to work for Ron as he was one of the best foreman on site. Then he became one of the Silver Seven. One of 7 trades that became the first Construction Greenmen. Later as he rose through management ranks he would tell me not to talk about his early days as a great guy to work for. In management he told me ,he had to maintian a certain reputation amongst his peers and employees. I always laughed at this as everyone else there knew better. During my time with him back at the Bruce we sorted out so many problems internally. All I know he was a great electrician and even a greater guy. We will all miss him.

Condolences to Debbie and extended family’s. I got to know Ron through Wednesday night poker. Ron soon became known as “The River Dawg”. He got this nickname because most of the hands he won were on the river card. His personal life was much the same as his poker style. He battled cancer right to the last card he was dealt. He is “The Top Dawg” in my books. Rest in peace Ron.
