CUNNINGHAM: Daisy Bernice (Morgan)

CUNNINGHAM: Surrounded by the love of her family, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, on Friday, December 21, 2012, Daisy Bernice (Morgan) Cunningham of Chateau Gardens Nursing Home, Parkhill and formerly of Port Elgin, age 89. Beloved wife of the late Wray Alexander Cunningham (2006). Loved mother of Sandra and Don Cox of Grand Bend, Scott and Rosemary Cunningham of Memphis, TN, Ken and Margaret Cunningham of Port Elgin and Robert Cunningham of London. Loved grandmother of Stuart Cox of Milton, Carolyn Cafik of Port Elgin, Cassidy Cunningham of Memphis, Lea-Anne and Brett Bursa of Port Elgin. Loving great-grandmother of Rachel and Matthew Cox, Eden Cafik, Alexander and Gavin Bursa. Dear sister of Beatrice Roberts of Kitchener, Marion Hollands of Mount Forest and Evelyn and Robert Connor of Ingersoll. Predeceased by her grandson Justin Cox (1999), sister Marjorie Harlow (2006) and brother Lloyd Morgan (2008). In 1965, Daisy, Wray and their three young sons moved from Ingersoll to Orlando, Fla. and then eventually to Memphis, Tenn. They returned some years later to reside in London, and then Port Elgin. They spent many enjoyable summers at the Klondyke Park, Grand Bend. Daisy was known for the beautiful flowers she grew, especially dahlias. They also spent many healthful winters near Brooksville, Fla. where, once again, Daisy was able to enjoy her gardening talents. She and Wray joined a square dancing club and spent many fun filled hours dancing with friends. During her final years, she struggled with many health issues. However, the staff at the Chateau Gardens will attest that despite her ailing health, she never lost her sense of humor or her determination to be as independent as possible. The CNIB Reading Books Programme helped Daisy maintain her inquiring mind. The family wishes to extend deepest appreciation to the dedicated staff at the Chateau Gardens, Parkhill and to Dr. Lock. They also appreciate the medical staff at the hospital in Strathroy who looked after Daisy so compassionately while she was in their care. Friends from Holland have sent their condolences. These friendships were formed in 1995 at the time of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland. They always refer to themselves as Daisy and Wray’s Dutch children. Cremation. A private Family Remembrance with interment at the Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend.
