BEUTTENMILLER: Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Muegge) of Seaforth

March 22, 2026 By Haskett Funeral Homes 131 Condolences

BEUTTENMILLER: Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Muegge) of Seaforth
Beutenmiller, Betty1 W300

Betty passed away peacefully at Blue Water Rest Home surrounded by love on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the age of 84. Cherished wife of Bob Beuttenmiller for over 62 years. Loving mom of Lisa and Dieter Oberbichler, Brad and Pam Beuttenmiller, and Jason and Melissa Beuttenmiller. Proud grandma of RJ, Brooke, Jada, Meg, Kyra, Luke, and Lexi. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Don and Eileen Muegge, Bob Muegge, Richard and Joanne Muegge, Judy and Doug Dalrymple, Linda and Bill Soldan, Len and Jane Muegge, Lois and Bill Brown, Yvonne and Richard Hulley, Patti and Dave Spence, and Gord and Anna Beuttenmiller. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Marie (Hoegy) Muegge, parents in-law Gord and Ruth Beuttenmiller, and her sister-in-law Joanne Muegge.

Betty was a woman of deep faith who loved her family wholeheartedly and gave generously of herself to others. Alongside Bob, she owned and operated Bob and Betty’s Variety for 28 years, and she also found great joy in her work as a teacher. After retirement, she continued to support children’s education by offering her tutoring services to many local kids. Betty and Bob shared a love of golf, which took them to many different courses. Deeply involved in Bethel Bible Church, Betty devoted much of her time to volunteer and charity work, and her dedication to the community was recognized with the Citizen of the Year Award.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, SEAFORTH on Friday, March 27th from 6 – 9 PM.

Betty’s funeral service will be held at Bethel Bible Church, 126 Main Street South, Seaforth on Saturday, March 28th at 11 AM. A private family interment will be held at Maitlandbank Cemetery, Seaforth at a later date.

Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting https://www.bethelbiblechurch.ca/events/betty-beuttenmillers-funeral-service

Donations to Bethel Bible Church or the Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Blue Water Rest Home for their care and compassion shown to Betty and her family.

I may not have known you closely but I have always thought of you with a quiet affection, as your cousin. After speaking with one of your sisters recently, I’ve heard of your deep faith and the strength you carried throughout your life; especially as the eldest in such a large family. That is something to be truly admired.
May you rest in peace and may your memory bring comfort to those whose lives you touched.

I will miss her but I have memories of her as we all do that will be shared at future gatherings. RIP dearest sister.

Mrs Beuttenmiller was my grade 5 teacher at Exeter Public School in 1991. She took over our class a few months into the school year, and she quickly became one of my favourite teachers. She shared the world with us by organizing pen pal exchanges with students in other countries and inviting guest speakers to share their travel experiences. She encouraged friendships between all the boys and girls in the class. One day, she had every boy in the class bring in a specially prepared lunch and then each girl was treated to a picnic as she taught us how to socialize politely. Her expectations were high, but we were rewarded with unique and memorable experiences. My sincere sympathies to all those who loved her.
Rest in peace, Mrs B – you made a difference.

The daffodil beds at Reynolds Plantation never knew what hit them!!! What great fun we had.

I look forward to celebrating Aunt Betty with her friends and family this coming weekend, but want to add my voice to the choir here. I got to know her later in my life when I moved back east as an adult and would bring my young kids to Seaforth to the Boxing Day gatherings or summer family reunions.

Betty’s outgoing leadership at these events made me feel welcome and contributed to making these events fun and inclusive. I admired her willingness to jump up and initiate an ice breaker game or go around with everyone sharing what made them thankful that day.

In recent years her brother Bob, my dad, kept me up to date with her declining health. It was lovely to hear how well cared for she has been through that time, and what a great support system she had around her with her husband Bob, her family and sisters. I know that these past couple years have been tremendously painful and I hope your grief can blossom to warm memories this spring.

I have many fond memories of Betty as we attended High School together, were in the same home room and classes together as we moved through the years. Later we shared the same occupation as teachers. We had many enjoyable conversations together. I was always delighted when she would come in as a supply teacher to Huron Centennial. Although I have not seen Betty in recent years I still think of her often and remember her as a very kind, caring and special person. My sympathy goes out to Bob and the family. Hold onto those memories.

I was truly blessed to have had Betty as my big sister. She was a loving, caring, giving sister. She took on many responsibilities and never complained. She worked along side Bob to ensure they built a good foundation for their family. She was devoted to Lisa, Brad and Jason while always teaching good strong moral values so they could succeed in life. She adored her grandchildren! There was never a picture taken with them were she would not have a big proud smile. She was the wind beneath so many wings! She had a strong faith and has left a beautiful legacy! Love you always. ❤️

Aunt Betty was always so welcoming at the family reunions and she loved her extended family dearly. Some of my earliest memories of the summer reunion when it was still held in Hensall, were Aunt Betty and myself chasing each other around with water balloons, which became a reoccurring theme in my early years. Her contributions along with Uncle Bob in ensuring that the family reunions remained an annual event, that I very much looked forward to, cannot be underestimated. She was always a kind soul, always had a smile, and always had a story to tell. I will miss her very much.

My condolences go out to Uncle Bob, Lisa, Dieter, Brad, Pam, Jason, Melissa, RJ, Brooke, Jada, Meg, Kyra, Luke, and Lexi. She will be missed.

    To Betty’s family:
Please accept my deepest condolences at your loss of a wonderful person. I met Betty when she did some supply teaching for me. She was so dedicated to the students and to fulfilling the work that was assigned to her. If the work plan was not elaborate in its explanations she could improvise easily. She always had the students eating out of the palm of her hand. I could always count on Betty. Thinking of many memories of days gone by and I’m sure you have many more. God Bless.
