BELL: Catherine Smith (Monteith) of Exeter

Passed away peacefully at Huron Residential Hospice, Clinton, on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late William Bell (2002) for 45 years. Lovingly remembered by her nephew and his wife, George and Mary Monteith, niece-in-law Suzanne Girard, great-nieces Karen, Laura and Heather, great-nephew Stephen, and the extended Monteith and Bell families. Predeceased by her parents Archibald and Catherine (Smith) Monteith, brothers George and Thomas and her nephew Douglas Monteith.

Catherine worked at Bell for many years and was very involved in the church community through Hensall Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed golfing, reading, crossword puzzles and visits with her dear friends and family during her years living in Hensall and Exeter. Special thanks to Cynthia and Shirley Prymak for the love and comfort shown to Catherine at her passing. Also, sincere thanks to the staff of Exeter Villa for the compassionate care provided to Catherine for many years.

In keeping with Catherineโ€™s wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Bairds Cemetery, 39254 Roman Road, Brucefield, on Saturday, September 30th at 3:30 pm.

Donations to Huron Residential Hospice would be appreciated by the family.

On behalf of my family and the Bell clan as a whole, we want to give thanks to be blessed to have our beloved Aunt Cathy as a part of our lives.

I had the unique opportunity to share birthdays which always gave us a special bond.

A cornerstone of every Bell family function, she also stepped in effortlessly as care giver to my brother Mike and I while our parents traveled.

When a career move brought me to Hensall area, I was welcomed into Cathy and Bill’s home as one of their own. That was a treasured time when I could indulge in Aunt Cathy’s cooking including meatloaf that was from out of this world.

Even in her final days, her bond with our family was a strong as ever, as she wanted word on how my mother, Kenlynn, was doing.

Our ever loving, feisty little Scottish lass will always be remembered with love and joy for the part she played as a Bell.
