Lyn passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and two daughters at LHSC – University Hospital on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the age of 78. Cherished wife of Nick Balabucha for over 60 years. Loving mom of Shelly (Balabucha) (McNeil) MacLean, and Natasha and Paul Smibert. Proud Nana of Kayla (Sean); Justin, and Amanda (Dwayne) and great-nana of Skylar. Dear sister of Alan Norton and sister-in-law of Doreen. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Ross and Marion (Landsborough) Norton, her siblings Bob and Marlene (Mike), and brother-in-law Victor.
Lyn will be remembered by many patrons she served with her smiling face as a waitress at the Golden Pheasant, Horse & Hound, and The Northstar, where many friendships were formed. Lyn loved settling into her chair with a coffee, enjoying a challenging word search.
A celebration of Lyn’s life will be held at the Community Bible Church, 24294 Adelaide Street North, LUCAN (corner of Highway 7 and Adelaide St. N.) on Saturday, February 28th from 11 AM – 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Arthritis Society Canada would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at LHSC – University Hospital both on 4th Floor and in the ICU. They are grateful for the care and compassion shown to Lyn and her family.

We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

Lyn was such a feisty and friendly gal with family love. We sure will miss Lyn out in the yard, just pitching in and helping with yard work and a wave or visit. We loved Lynda and she will always be a shining light for us.❤️

I’m so sorry. I spent so much of my childhood and teenage years with the Balabucha family, and I’ll always carry so many wonderful memories from that time. Even though we didn’t see each other as much in recent years, those early moments meant a lot to me, and I’ll always be grateful for them.
My deepest condolences to you, Nick, Shelly, Natasha, and your families. I hope you’re surrounded by love and comfort as you remember her and the beautiful life she lived. She’ll always have a special place in my heart, and I’m thinking of you all during this incredibly difficult time.
