Beloved husband of Quirina (De Koning) Van Geel and the late Catherine (Van de Laar) Van Geel (1968). Dear father of George and Mary Van Geel, Catherine Van Bussel, Frank and Bridgette Van Geel, Pete Van Geel and Pat MacDonald, Andy Van Geel and Gloria Hodgins and Walda and Gary Barker all of Lucan, John Van Geel and Joe Eagleson of Poplar Hill, Nancy and Bob Flanigan of Ilderton, Mary and Harold McAdam of Allenford, Jack and Wanda Van Geel of Forest, Keith Van Geel of Harrington and Lois Van Geel of London. Also survived by 31 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son Carl Van Geel, son-in-law Chris Van Bussel, daughter-in-law Joyce Van Geel, granddaughter Jan Elaine Barker, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.  At Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Friday, August 22, 2008 Helen (Arndt) Whiteford of Watford and formerly of Glencoe and Parkhill in her 74th year. Beloved wife of the late Earl Whiteford (1996). Dear mother of Leona and Bill Morrison of Martlett, Michigan, Elaine and Oswald Gillard and David and Beverly Lumbert all of Newfoundland and Penny and Ron Paisley of Forest. Dear step-mother of Doug and Carol Whiteford of Ailsa Craig. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Marilyn of Caro, Michigan and sister-in-law of Pearl, Leslie and Ann. Predeceased by a brother-in-law Louis Smith. Joanne Marie (McAuliffe) Cooke

Joanne Marie (McAuliffe) Cooke on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at L.H.S.C, Westminster Campus.  A superb mother, wife, friend and sister, Joanne passed away quietly in the company of her family after an epic battle with cancer.  She lit up the life of, and will be sadly missed by her husband Larry, her children Kate at home and Michael Dalgleish and his wife Tracy, Dan and Robin Cooke, all of London, and her sister Patricia and Bill Clarke of Greely.  She will be fondly remembered by her great friends Andy, Jill and Claire Tully of St. Thomas, Phyllis Dalgleish of Thunder Bay, Mary Dalgleish of Ilderton, Marge and Jim Cooke of St. Thomas, and Jay and Donna Cooke of Port Stanley.  Joanne was an employee for Canada Post for 28 years and recently was a carrier in North London.  No visitation.  A private family service will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 with the Rev. Greg Little officiating.  Cremation to follow.  Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Peacefully, at Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall on Thursday, August 14, 2008 Adeline (Stone) Ford formerly of Exeter in her 93rd year, born April 7, 1916, daughter of the late Wesley and Eunice Stone. Loving wife of the late Irwin (Bunny) Ford (January 2008) and loving mother of the late Mary Anne Miller (2000). Survived by her grandchildren: Dan and Patti Miller of Lindsay and their children, Scott, Peter and Ben Miller and Carolyn and Eric Skrypetz of Mississauga their children April and Ross. Predeceased by her sisters Ruby and her husband Roy Bell and Gladys and her husband Bill Chambers. Adeline will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 west of Main, Exeter on Saturday, August 16th. Interment Exeter Cemetery. Donations to Exeter United Church, Exeter Volunteer Firefighters or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

At his late residence in Oakville on Thursday, August 7, 2008 Dr. Robert Wallace (Wally)  Read M.D. formerly Exeter in his 81st year. Predeceased by wife Bev (Jennings) Read (1979) and his son Bob Read (2001). Beloved husband of Anne-Marie (Wade) Read. Dear father of Dave Read of Calgary, Steve Read of Oakville, Cathy and Rob Laye of Woodstock, Betty Read of Georgetown and step-father of Wade Bingle of Vancouver and Colin and Catherine Bingle of Austin, Texas. Loving grandfather of Brian, Dennis, Aaron, Chris, Shawn, Jeremy and Katie the cat. Wally was a family physician (graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Meds ‘52) in Exeter for 38 years. He moved to Oakville in 1987, working part-time at the Rebecca Walk-In Clinic. Wally was a handy man and could arrive at your house with either his medical bag or his tool box. His passions were his family, camping at Salmon Point, computers and his rose garden. He will be sadly missed. Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 west of Main, Exeter on Sunday afternoon 2-4 PM where the funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11th at 1:30 PM. Interment Exeter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Oakville Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
