Cremation continues to become an increasingly chosen form of final disposition, but contrary to what many people believe, choosing cremation does not limit the opportunities to create a meaningful funeral, memorial service, or celebration of life.
In many cases, a funeral service followed by cremation is no different than a funeral service followed by burial. Families may still choose visitation, church services, receptions, personalized tributes, livestreaming, music, photo presentations, and meaningful gatherings that reflect the individual being remembered.
At Haskett Funeral Homes, we believe cremation should never feel impersonal or rushed. Every family deserves the same level of dignity, professionalism, and care regardless of the type of service they choose.

In 2014, alongside many other independently owned funeral homes across Ontario, our family helped establish Southwest Crematoriums in the community of Strathroy. The goal was simple: to ensure the families we serve would continue to receive trusted, local, independently operated cremation care from people who genuinely understand the importance of the work being done.
Rather than sending cremations to large distant providers, this investment allowed us to remain closely involved throughout the entire process while helping ensure accountability, consistency, and compassionate care every step of the way.
Since opening, Southwest Crematoriums has expanded to additional locations across Ontario, but one thing has remained unchanged — families served through Haskett Funeral Homes continue to receive the same level of care and respect at the crematorium as they do within our funeral homes.
Because of this partnership and investment, we are also able to offer families a wide range of options while remaining highly competitive in both cremation and funeral service pricing.
Cremation options may include:
- Traditional funeral services followed by cremation
- Memorial visitation with the urn present
- Celebration of life gatherings
- Witnessed cremations
- Priority or expedited cremation services
- Livestreaming and recording
- Personalized tribute services
- Church or off-site ceremonies
- Reception and catering options
- Urns and keepsakes
- Scattering and interment guidance
Following cremation, families may choose a number of options for permanent placement and remembrance. Cremated remains may be interred in a cemetery, placed in a columbarium, retained within the family, or scattered in accordance with provincial and local regulations.
While scattering is an option some families choose, we often encourage families to also consider the importance of having a permanent place for remembrance and reflection — a place where future generations, family members, and friends may visit and continue to honour a life that touched so many others.
Our team is always available to help explain the available options and guide families through the process in a way that feels comfortable, informed, and appropriate for their wishes.
