    My family’s deepest condolences to the Hess families. I have amazing memories of Dot (and Gord!). Summer rides on the “GORDOT” chasing the elusive giant muskie, the warmth of “The Compound,” and beating Barry out for the runny yolk. Even my son and daughter, in the three or four visits they’ve had to see Grandma, remember “Dot Dot.” No one could ever forget an amazing person like her.

    Dot was the person one wished to sit beside at the tea or the dinner or the cocktail party. She was the kind, generous and interested (also interesting) woman who hung out with Gord and my parents for decades. I smile when I think of her.
    I am sorry for the sadness that Dot’s death brings to her family. Linda Gascho Moran

    What a special and unique lady! My most heartfelt condolences to the Hess family on the passing of their loving Mom, Grandma, Great grandma and sister. Dot was one of a kind and will be very sadly missed by her family and many friends. It was an honor for me to know her and she was an amazing inspiration for me to value every second of life and to approach everything with a positive attitude. Her zest for life, her genuine interest in others and her deep love of her family and friends was obvious to me within minutes of meeting her. The first time I met her despite there being lots of other people around and lots going on, she sat and talked to me for quite a long time like we were two old friends who hadn’t seen each other in a while and I was so taken with her kindness and generosity of spirit and have been from that moment on. And her fashionista personality! Always dressed to the nines! The last thing she said to me was that she had no regrets. Many of us can’t say that. Definitely Dot’s life was a life extraordinarily well lived and the always warm light that shone from her will be very missed.

    Garry & Arlene, Larry, Barry & Lois & families;

    Our sincere condolences in the passing of your wonderful Mother & Grandma. I was privileged to know “Dot” for about five decades. She has always been such a kind and positive person. Dot has been a valued member of our church family at St. Peter’s Lutheran for as long as I can remember. My Mother and I will always treasure the last visit we had with Dot at Jessica’s house. She was so appreciative of everything she had been blessed with. She even shared with me some final and inspiring “nuggets of wisdom” which I shall cherish and carry with me forever.
    My Mom, Marilyn, wishes to pass on her sympathy as well.
    You all remain in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
    Rest in peace, dear Dot.

    Mark & Julie Heimrich, Sarah, Scott & Spencer.

    The loss of Aunt Dot will be felt by so many, She always told me we were so lucky to both have such good looking husbands and each have our three sons. I was lucky enough to hang out with “the sisters” and their laughter and humour was contagious! I feel so sorry for those who have loved her and lost her

    Deepest sympathy to the Hess family on the passing of “Dot; an extraordinary woman.

    Words alone seem inadequate to describe the legacy and memories that Dot leaves behind. From her warm engaging smile, coupled with the sparkle in her eyes; you were immediately drawn to her. Dot’s genuine interest in everyone around her, was her trademark. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone more positive than Dot.

    I will miss giving Dot her weekly hug Sunday morning at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. My late wife Susan and I felt extremely blessed and honoured to call Dot our friend. She will be missed by one and all.

    Rest In Peace My Friend

    I am fortunate to have a life time of cherished memories with our Auntie Dot. But my most fondest are the childhood ones. Our favorite vacation spot was in the pinery at Auntie Dots cottage. As we approached the sand dunes with excitement, we knew our Auntie Dots smile and warm hugs would be there to greet us. Uncle Gordon would wink and say, the relatives have arrived! The weekend would consist of bomb fires, hiking, ample food and so much laughter it wood echo through the bush! Our Auntie Dot made our childhood memories unforgettable. Her concern and love of family was selfless. Her optimism was contagious and it was a privilege to call her my Auntie Dot. She created a beautiful family and extended her kindness, grace and love throughout her community. My sincere heartfelt condolences to Garry, Larry and Barry and their families.

    To Dot’s Boys and their loved ones,
    I’m so saddened for all of you with the loss of a beautiful and special mom and grandma. Dot spread sunshine into so many lives and I’m so grateful she was a part of mine. I treasure wonderful memories from my childhood : her Halloween popcorn balls, her joyful laugh at parties, time spent at the cottage. And more recent memories: her recognition of accomplishments achieved, and her genuine interest in me and my family. I think that’s what I admired and loved most – her authenticity. (And her sense of humour!) She was an example of grace and humility, and she will be so greatly missed.
    Sending much love to you all,
    Pam
