SKOCHINSKI, Jordan:
After a beautiful day on the water up in Georgian Bay; boating and swimming and playing cards, suddenly and unexpectedly, Jordan โJordyโ Matthew Skochinski of London, formerly of Exeter, suffered a stroke on Sat. August 5. He was transferred to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie where he subsequently died on Monday, August 7, 2023, only four days after his 31st birthday. Adored fiancรฉ of Shelagh โShayโ May Jinks of London; they were to be married October 5, 2024. Forever loved son of Michael Brian and Judy Ann (Bunting) Skochinski of Exeter. Cherished brother of Craig (Tracey) Skochinski of Arthur and Trevor Skochinski of Exeter. Treasured grandson of Doreen Bunting of London. Loved son-in-law of Dave and Barb Jinks and brother-in-law of Melissa (Devon) Jinks, Jessica (Brandon) McNeil, Samantha Jinks (Alexander Vincent). Dear nephew of Karen (Brian) Ramsay, Glenn Bunting, (Bunny Eden), Jim (Julie) Skochinski, Don (Karen) Skochinski and cousin of Ken (Kristina) Ramsay, Mark Ramsay, Matteo Columbi, Madison Bunting, Jennifer Skochinski, Rebekah (Jon Nelson) Skochinski, Alexander (Meghan) Skochinski, Claire Skochinski. Predeceased by his grandparents Walter (2005) and Rosalia โRoseโ (Drazecky) Skochinski (2017), Lynn Bunting (2014). At Jordanโs request, cremation has taken place.
Jordan was a large personality, always trying to run before he could walk. He was quite athletic and played hockey in the South Huron Minor Hockey system, often enthusiastically coached by his Dad. It was important to Michael that his kids had the opportunity to play any of the sports they desired. Judy also supported his activities and the household was a busy one, between hockey, curling, boy scouts, baseball, soccer etc.
Jordan was a very loyal person, which is evidenced by the fact that he made lifelong friends, some starting in elementary school and some discovered in high school. These friends bonded over music trips and band practice, a love of heavy metal music and UFC Wrestling. Even those friends who were not major supporters were dragged along by Jordanโs passion. Several of his friends made the trip to Barrie to say good-bye to their friend.
Six years ago, Jordan met the love of his life, Shelagh, โShayโ Jinks. He enjoyed becoming a part of her life and family and, with a grin, said, โyour sisters are crazy!โ The Skochinski family had already welcomed Shay into the family: Judy was grateful for further female reinforcements! Jordan loved children; piggybacking and carrying around his younger cousins at a younger age himself. Shayโs nieces and nephews would often be heard asking, โWhereโs Jordan, swing me Jordanโ and Jordan would always oblige. He would have been a wonderful father as he was really just a big kid at heart!
Jordan had a tender heart and would do anything for anyone he cared about. He lived loud, spoke loud and laughed loud – and often. In honor of Jordanโs big heart and according to his wishes, organ donation has taken place through the Trillium Gift of Life Network.
A Celebration of Jordanโs Life will be held at the South Huron Recreation Centre, Exeter, on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 1 to 5 p.m., with Words of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. The famiIy and Jordan were treated with such love and kindness by the staff in the ICU that, if desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie; the Heart and Stroke Foundation; the South Huron Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

I am so saddened to read of this tragic loss. Jordan was a great kid and I can see that he grew into a handsome young man.
I am especially sad that the October wedding cannot happen but I’m happy to know he found his person, Shay.
Thinking of everyone who loved Jordan as you treasure his memory in the days ahead. Sorry I missed the visitation and the opportunity to give you a hug in person.

Dear Shelagh, Michael, Judy and Family,
Heartfelt sadness on this very great loss of Jordan. I’ve had the best, funny and loving memories of Jordan as he grew. As one of the mom’s, it was a pleasure to have Jordan in our home, our lives, our hearts and our memories. So many years and stories to remember, Jordan was part of that great group of friends, The Boys, considered brothers, so very much a privilege to know him.
Shelagh, together the two of you were one of my favourite couples, seeing you both was always a highlight, especially the hugs!
God Bless you All, Sincerely,
MaryJane Parsons(Alex’s mom)
