February 9, 2022 By 7 Condolences

MARCOUX: Thomas “Lou” Louis Joseph Patrick

MARCOUX:  Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at his residence, on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, Thomas Louis “Lou” Joseph Patrick Marcoux, of Grand Bend formerly of Oshawa and Ottawa, passed away at age 83.  Beloved husband of Sharon Violet (Lee) Marcoux.  Loved father and father-in-law of Lee Marcoux and Karen Marcoux both of Grand Bend and Michelle and Bill Schuneman of Plymouth, MN.  Cherished grandfather of Jasmin, Andrew, Logan and Claire.  Dear brother of Claudie Sawyer of Gore’s Landing.  Remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families.  Predeceased by his father Thomas Marcoux and his mother Germaine (Fortier) Marcoux. Survived by KirinVI.

Lou was a civil servant with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Lou’s love of the water sparked his life long adventures of wind surfing, scuba diving and sailing. He was a compassionate, kind soul and was like a father to all, and a warrior of freedom.

A Celebration of Life and in spirit of his love of music “LouFest” will be held at a later date, time and location to be announced. Thank you to T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.

I will always remember growing up on Alice St in Oshawa and paling around with Louie, Greg Fehrenbach and Eddie Donald. Playing basketball in the driveway and being introduced by Louie to George “Hound dog” Lorenz on a Buffalo radio station that played “black” R&B and rock. Then there was air cadets. I only saw Louie a few times in the many years that have gone by, but we always enjoyed talking about the “old days”.
My condolances to his wife and family – and a shout out to his sister Claudie who I know will greatly miss him.
Rest in peace my childhood friend,
    Bob Brockman

    Sharon, Michele and Lea,

I am so sorry to hear thar Lou has passed. I am Sharon’s cousin. I have many fond memories of Lou and Sharon as we lived across the street on Clarke Street when they started dating. As a kid, I know I interfered in a lot of their alone time, but they never told me to get lost. I remember their wedding. It was beautiful. I especially remember Lou wearing 1 green sock and 1 red sock every Christmas. They were a real life love story. Unfortunately, after their move to Ottawa we didn’t see as much of them, but even when I grew up and married, my husband, Ken and I enjoyed their visits to Aunt Margies.
Sending loving thoughts and hugs to all of you.
    Ken and Sue McKinnon( Sleeman)
