
LAWRENCE: Peacefully, at home on Saturday, January 18, 2020, Jessie (Collier) Lawrence of Grand Bend, in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late James โJimmyโ Wesley Lawrence (2010). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Jim Lawrence (Barbara Green) of Ottawa, Kathy (Jim) Young of Grand Bend and Peter Lawrence of Halifax, NS. Cherished Nanny of Kelly (Chris) Collison, Kim Young and Andrew Lawrence (Virginie Lalibertรฉ Bouchard). Treasured great-grandma of Alex and Ryan Collison. Dear sister of Joan Hendry of England. Predeceased by parents Fred and Hilda (Cocker) Collier, sisters Kathleen (Bob) Taylor and Constance (John) Ryder. Sadly missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jessie was born in Farnworth, England and resided at Salt Pie Farm and Slack Top, Yorkshire. She worked as an apprentice at Proctors Bakery, Farnworth until joining the British Womenโs Royal Navy Service during WWII. In 1946, Jessie immigrated to Halifax as a war bride. She was an avid member of St. Markโs Anglican Church and a lifelong member of the Mothersโ Union. At Jessieโs request cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring, date and time to be announced. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. If desired, memorial donations to Jessicaโs House or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

Jessie always had a bright, friendly smile when greeting me at her door. In true British fashion, she would offer a cup of tea. I loved Jessie’s sense of style. Her home was always warm and welcoming. Though missed, her kind nature lives on in her daughter, Kathy.
