
Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at Stratford General Hospital, on Sunday, November 6, 2016, Harold “Bud” Frederick Schroeder, of Exeter formerly of Dashwood, age 89. Beloved husband of Jean Isobel (Watson) Schroeder. Loved father and father-in-law of Cathy and Jerry Mathers of RR 2, Lucan, Steve and Brenda Schroeder of Dashwood, Connie and Chris Van Gerwen of Conestogo. Cherished grandpa of Scott Mathers and Hayley Walker, Christine and Matt VanderHeide, Jesse and Rachel Schroeder, Brittney and Steve MacDouell, Carly Schroeder, Brett and Nicole Van Gerwen, Nathan Van Gerwen and Eric Van Gerwen. Treasured great-grandpa of Olivia, Liam and Sam, Claire, Porter and Rory. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jacob and Pat Schroeder of RR 2, Dashwood, Fred Smith of Peterborough, Frances Schilbe of Bayfield. Bud will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents William J. H. and Selma (Weseloh) Schroeder, brother Hubert “Corky” Schroeder, sister Anne Smith, sister-in-law Audrey Schroeder, brothers-in-law Ivan Watson and Earl Schilbe. At Bud’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. The Rev. John E. Trembulak III Officiating. Interment Exeter Cemetery. Bud was a long time trustee for the Village of Dashwood, he was a member of the Dashwood Fire Department and served as the Chief for many years. He also was the owner of Schroeder Milling in Dashwood. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. If desired, memorial donations (payable by cheque) to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Canada, the Zion Lutheran Church, Dashwood or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
