DURDIN: Charles “Bud” Newton

DURDIN: Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at Parkwood Hospital, London, on Saturday, May 4, 2002, Charles Newton “Bud” Durdin of Dashwood, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Sigrid “Siggie” (Pedersen) Durdin since 1947. Loved father of Karn and Don Thornton of Grand Bend, Lorelei and Tom Gloor of Port Stanley and Dan Durdin of Dashwood. Loving grandpa of Chris, Ashton and Kalvin Thornton, Becky and Jesi Gloor. Loved brother-in-law of Doris Durdin of Barrie, Karen and Bill Nolan of Shell Beach, California, Inga Manuel and Martha Penn both of London, Loric “Pete” and Linda Pedersen of Stoney Creek and dear cousin of Oliver “Pat” Durdin of London. Also loved by his many nieces, nephews, Danish relatives and their families and “Special Angel” Tiny Mulder of the Dutch underground. Predeceased by his son Peter Wayne Durdin (infancy), brother Bill Durdin and infant brother Lloyd, parents Cliff and Gertrude (Newton) Durdin and brother-in-law Joe Manuel. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, with visitation Tuesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; where the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Grant Darling officiating. Cremation with interment Exeter Cemetery. Royal Canadian Legion, Grand Bend, Branch No. 498 will hold a service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Memorial donations to Parkwood Hospital Veterans ward, Parkinson Foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated. Bud served with the R.C.A.F. and the R.A.F. during WWII, was shot down over Holland, kept by the Dutch underground until captured by the Germans, was then held prisoner until Liberated by the Russian Army at the end of the war. Bud continued with the R.C.A.F. until his retirement in 1973.

Memorial Tree

Each year we hold a tree dedication ceremony at Morrison Dam in Exeter. We purchase a tree to be planted in memory of the lives lost from the previous year.

Our Service Coverage Area

Service AreaWe are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

Potential Additional Transportation Fees

$150 - If transport requires more than one person, additional fee charged per person required
$150 - If transport occurs outside Mon-Fri, 9-5 business hours
