MIDDLETON: At his residence, Wednesday, August 22, 2012, Gary Thomas Middleton, of RR 1, Woodham, (Winchelsea) formerly of Exeter, age 76. Beloved husband of Jo-Ann (Rescorl) Middleton. Loved father of Linda and David Holmes of Exeter, Janet Maracle and partner Mark Bernhardt of Deseronto, Marshall Middleton and partner Katie Bradley of London. Loving grandfather of Nathan, Stephen, Brittany and Emily Holmes, Evan (Amy) Maracle and great-grandfather of Kaylynn “Baby” Predeceased by parents William and Ella (Washburn) Middleton. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Exeter Fire Hall, 55 William St., Exeter, Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 1 to 4 p.m. with a time of sharing and reflection at 2:30 p.m. Gary joined the Fire Dept in December 1960. In the fall of 1967 at the age of 31, Gary was appointed Fire Chief for the Exeter and Area Fire Dept., Retiring in 1995 after 35 years of service, 28 years of which he served as Chief. If desired, memorial donations (by cheque) to the Exeter Fire Fighters Association would be appreciated. T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, entrusted with arrangements.
