HARRISON: Scott Steven of London, formerly of Exeter

HARRISON: Scott Steven of London, formerly of Exeter

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Steven Harrison, who passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on July 2, 2026, at the age of 43, with his loving parents by his side.

Scott was born on September 2, 1982, to Steve and Sherri Harrison. He spent his childhood in Exeter, Ontario, where he grew up surrounded by family and friends, before later living in London.

Scott was born with a rare hereditary condition that gradually changed the course of his life. Following high school, he began using a wheelchair and lived with significant chronic pain for many years. Despite the physical challenges he faced, Scott’s sharp mind, resilience, and determination never left him. His illness was only one part of who he was, and those who knew him will remember the person beyond the wheelchair.

Scott was a true child of the ’80s who found joy in the things he loved most. He never outgrew his love of the movie Labyrinth, watching it countless times until he could recite it by heart. One line in particular, “You have no power over me,” seems to carry even greater meaning now. As a young boy, his favourite songs included “Pump Up the Jam” and “I’ve Got My Mind Set on You.” One Christmas as a toddler, Scott asked for earphones. Not realizing what he meant, his mom mistakenly bought him earmuffs instead. At Christmas, Scott innocently asked, “Where’s the music?” and everyone realized the mix-upโ€”a family story that brought laughter for years to come.

Wheelchair hockey was an important part of Scott’s life for many years. He loved the game, the friendships it brought, and the chance to compete. His dad, Steve, was one of the team’s coaches, and they shared many weekends together at practices, games, and tournamentsโ€”time that became some of their family’s most cherished memories.

Scott also had a special place in his heart for cats and always enjoyed their companionship. He looked forward to spending time with his cousins Renee and Nelson in Blue Point, where he was always warmly welcomed and thoroughly spoiled. He also greatly appreciated the kindness and care shown to him over the years by his cousins Rhonda and Jeff. Scott was known for being incredibly stubborn and hardheadedโ€”a trait that could be both challenging and endearing, and one that undoubtedly helped him face the many obstacles life placed before him. Those who knew and loved him will remember his determination, his sharp mind, and the unique personality that made him unmistakably Scott.

Scott was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Steve and Sherri Harrison; his sister, Rebecca (Allan) Siderius, and their children, Ivy, Harrison, and Elliot; and his brother, Nick Harrison.

He is also lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles: Michelle (Godmother) and Dave Smith; Diane Ernteman (the late Art Ernteman); Brenda and Ron McDonald; Kim McCann (the late Mark Hallman); Joe Rau (the late Carolyn Rau); Derek (Godfather) and Tammy Rau; Shawn and Cathy Rau; as well as his many cousins.

Scott was predeceased by his grandparents, Barb and Doug Harrison, and Tony and Patsy Rau.

Though Scott endured more than most people could imagine, he was surrounded by the unwavering love of his family throughout his life. His quiet strength, perseverance, and the courage with which he faced each day will be remembered always.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for Scott over the years with kindness and compassion.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

    July 4, 2026 at 3:31 AM

Our deepest condolences to Steve, Sherri, Rebecca, Nick and all of Scottโ€™s family and friends at this heartbreaking time.

I first met Sherri through our shared love of music, and from that friendship our two families created a very special bond. When the Harrisons came over to Scotland for a holiday, that friendship grew even stronger, and we were lucky enough to become part of each otherโ€™s lives.

One thing that was always clear about Scott was that his disability never defined him. Yes, Scott was different, but that difference was also part of what made him such a unique and remarkable person. He had a way of looking at the world that was truly his own. His sharp mind, quick wit, and unexpected comments could stop you in your tracks and make you think about things differently. There was something special about Scott Harrison, something that went far beyond any challenges he faced.

Scott lived life his way, with a strength and determination that many would admire. The love, support and devotion shown by his wonderful parents, brother, sister and family played such a huge part in helping him through the obstacles life placed in front of him.

My family were once invited to spend Christmas at the Harrison home, and I can honestly say we have never experienced such warmth and kindness. The welcome we received is something I still cherish to this day. Steve and Sherri didnโ€™t just welcome us into their house, they made us feel like part of their family, and I will always be grateful for that.

At times like this, the distance between Scotland and Canada feels greater than ever. It is difficult knowing that the Pryce family cannot be there in person to stand beside you, give you a hug, and support you through such a sad time. Please know that although there are thousands of miles between us, our thoughts, love, and friendship are right there with you.

The incredible family bond you all share will help carry you through this sad time. Scott will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him. In time, I hope the pain you feel today will slowly make room for all the beautiful memories, laughter, and love that Scott brought into your lives.

Sending all our love from Scotland.
