WALDRON: Thelma Irene of Sarnia, formerly of Grand Bend

June 1, 2026 By Haskett Funeral Homes 12 Condolences

WALDRON: Thelma Irene of Sarnia, formerly of Grand Bend

Peacefully at Twin Lakes Terrace Nursing Home, Sarnia on Friday, May 29, 2026 in her 99th year. Cherished aunt of Gail and Jeoffrey Dietrich of Sarnia, Cathy and Gary Hugill of Exeter, and great-aunt of Chris and Lori Dietrich, and their children Avah and Ryerson of Sarnia. Predeceased by her parents John and Florence (Handford) Waldron, and siblings Jack and Thelma Waldron, Mervyn and Mary Waldron, and Denzil Waldron. Remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and their families in England.

Thelma will be fondly remembered for her strong work ethic and the joy she found in her many years working at McLaren’s on Main Street in Grand Bend. She often spoke of that time as some of the happiest years of her life, cherishing the friendships and memories she made there. A devoted dog lover, Thelma had a special place in her heart for her beloved spaniels. She spent many treasured years on Gill Road, where she and her brother, Den, took immense pride in their beautiful gardens and the family property that had been in their family for generations. When maintaining the property became too much, Thelma moved to the condos across the river, allowing her to continue enjoying the view of the land she loved so dearly.

Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 118 Dashwood Main Street, DASHWOOD on Saturday, June 6th from 12 PM – 1 PM, where Thelma’s memorial service will begin at 1:30 PM. Cremation with interment will be held at the Grand Bend Cemetery.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

My condolences to all family and friends. Thelma was a very sweet lady and it was my pleasure to assist caring for her. In the week before Thelma was called home, she agreed to lay in our relaxation bed, which swung softly and played music of nature sounds, waterfalls and birds chirping. etc Thelma looked peaceful ♥️
