STOREY: Cindy (Rea) of Goderich

Passed away peacefully at Jessica’s House Hospice, Exeter with her loving husband by her side on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at the age of 68. Beloved wife of Norman Storey for 44 years. Cherished mother of Julie Oates, Colin (Engelyn) Storey, and Gary Storey Adored grandmother of Emmett, the late Gabriel (2020); Sebastian, Mayumi; Grayson, Griffin, and Gage. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Linda and Wayne Callender, and Don and Janice Rea. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and the extended Storey family. Predeceased by her brother Jim Rea (2005) and her parents William Gordon and Maryln (Swetman) Rea.

Cindy dedicated much of her life to serving her community and other groups around the town of Erin. She was an active and devoted member of the United Church, the Scouts group committee, Homecraft, Legion Ladies Auxillery and gave countless hours as a hockey coordinator. Cindy was also the organizer for many fun weekends with the Lilly Club and achieved President’s Club many years while selling Avon around the community for fundraising.

Above all, Cindy was profoundly proud of her family. She treasured every moment spent with them, finding her greatest joy in their laughter, accomplishments, and the simple time they shared together.

Cindy was a childhood friend and I have fond memories of the get togethers with friends in high school. Cindy always shared her laughter with others. Cindy also helped put together some fantastic ‘girls’ weekends, as the years went by, with laughter again being the central part of it all. She loved her family and we would often chat about the grandkids as they were so important to her. I was blessed to have had a wonderful visit with Cindy while she was in hospice as we found memories to revisit. I will miss you Cindy— you were a good friend to me. Rest in peace . My thoughts and prayers for you Norm and the family.

A Tribute to Our Dear Friend and Neighbour, Cindy

We had something truly special on Lake Breeze Drive and so much of that was because of Cindy. She started our “Lake Breeze Neighbours” Facebook group and turned it into a place where connection, laughter, and friendship became routine. Because of her, our street became a place of genuine friendship.

From those early days even during the Covid summers when we had to meet outside Cindy was the organizer, the encourager, and the smiling face who brought us all together. She loved planning our dinners out, potlucks, and gatherings, and of course her unforgettable trivia nights. No one could dig up fun facts or stump us with playful questions quite like she could.

Cindy had such a warm, kind spirit. She was sweet, always ready with a laugh, and she had a deep love for Norm and her family. Nothing made her happier than seeing people around her enjoying themselves and feeling connected.

We are going to miss her terribly. She has left us with beautiful memories and a closeness we might never have had if not for her. She brought us together and although gatherings won’t feel the same without her, we will hold onto the bond she created.

Because of Cindy, Lake Breeze Drive became more than a street, it became a little family,
and we will carry that forward in her honour.

    With heartfelt sympathy,

    Your Lake Breeze neighbours

Dearest Norm and family. We have wonderful memories of sweet Cindy, and I even caught the bouquet at your wedding! She and baby Julie came for a visit when our daughter, Elise, was born!

I know you will all carry her with you on the rest of life’s journey, and hope you see her in the games the grandbabies play, the stories you tell, and honour her legacy every day – she will live on in your hearts.

Sadly, our family and Dianne’s will be out of the country on the date of her celebration, but we will be thinking of you all.

Norm and family: I have known Cindy as long as I can remember, my grandmother babysat her and her brother Donnie. My husband was a best friend to Norm and we owned a cottage together, the idea came to mind to set Norm up on a blind date with Cindy! AND the rest was history! Cindy loved her family and was taken way too young. She leaves behind some very fond memories! Her wings were ready but your hearts were not! RIP never forgotten for her kind and caring ways!

I along with the many life’s Cindy touched will miss her. She was a long time neighbour in Erin and when she had her day care babysat my kids. I was a member of the famous Lily club and remember the wild and crazy times in Collingwood and the fun time in New York City. Cindy was great at organizing anything and was inclusive of all, her thought was the more the merrier. Fun times at my place in Wasaga with Cindy, Liz and Deb. Always positive and such a great sense of humour and wit. I miss you. Love to Norm and all the family.

Cindy will be greatly missed. I have known her for over 40 years as we were both pregnant with our 3rd and youngest Gary and Amber while we were in the co op nursey school. Julie and my daughter Dana were also the same age and also in the same classs for many years at Erin Public and we got to be close friends. Of course we got together alot and did many outings together. The 2 I remember the most is our driving trip out west to Vancouver with Julie Dana and Amber and then when we went to see Neil Diamond live down at the Gardens. We always had a good time together. She was such a fun social person and was always organizing events such as the Lilly club which was always growing and we had many laughs and good times on our spring and fall get togethers up in Collingwood. She was always a big part of my life for which I will always be grateful. Rest in peace my friend.
