Passed away unexpectedly at her home on the farm on Monday, April 28, 2025 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Allan Smith (2016). Cherished mother of Carol and Bill Deichert, John and Brenda Smith, and Lynda and Joel Turner. Proud grandma of Lacey and Bill Loghrin (Hannah and Sarah), Mindy Deichert, Ethan and Reagan Deichert (Zoey and Emmy); Brittany and Alex Goes (Kherington, and Addison), Thomas and Sarah Smith (Sophia and Madelyn); Jim and Nikki Turner (Raina and Lorraine), Mykayla Turner, and Melody Turner. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Alex and Audrey Meikle, Carlyle and Penny Meikle. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Jim and Mary Meikle.
Ruth lived her wonderful life full of 3 F’s; Faith, Family, and Farming. These aspects of her life were so important to her. She was an avid reader, always enjoyed having a good book on the go. She was always known to lend books to anyone who was looking for a good read.
Visitation will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 40007 Kirkton Road, EXETER on Friday, May 2nd from 10 – 11 AM, where Ruth’s funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM. Interment Bluewater-Bronson Line Cemetery just down the road from Ruth and Allan’s farm.
