Audrey (Becker) Mitchell passed away quietly on Monday, January 19, 2004 after a full life of loving her family, teaching in her community, gardening, and always, always, painting. She started painting as a child, collecting and crushing berries for paint. She continued to paint, switching to her left hand after a stroke left her unable to paint with her right hand. She has left a rich legacy of her boundless determination, and talent as an artist. Beloved wife of Thomas Mitchell. Cherished mother of Ruth, Joe, Jim, Gerard, Cathy, Mike, and Margaret. Much loved and deeply missed by grandchildren Rachel, Elysse, Joel, Lauren, Rebecca Katrina, Cole, Clara, Gillian, Mary, Simon, Emma and Ella; sisters Virginia Berberick, Pauline Nolan, Leona Zettel, and brother Jim Becker. Predeceased by son Tommy (1975). Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Lucan on Saturday, January 24th at 11 a.m. with Father Dan Rocheleau, celebrant. Beloved husband of Colleen (Brock) Heckendorn. Dear father of Kim and Dale Van Allen, Kevin and Lotus Why, Duane and Lynda, Brock and Shaun all of London. Dear grandfather of Dana and Nick Van Allen; Katya, Graham and Erika; and Randy Bross. Dear son of Theo Heckendorn of Parry Sound. Predeceased by his father Nelson. Howard is past president of The Canadian Disc Jockey Association. He contributed to the community as a hockey, football and baseball coach. His life passions and career involved nature, landscaping, music, woodcarving and family.
