Peacefully at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 of Hensall and formerly of London in his 90th year. Wonderful husband of Kay (Walzack) Wise for over 69 years. Loving father of Steven Wise and Karen Martin of St. Jacobs, and Jackie and William Schutz of Hensall. Proud grandfather of Joshua Wise, Jill Wise (Cody Dunbar); Kathleen Talbot, Jessica Eineke (Christopher) and great-grandfather of William, Annie; Jack, Lou, Quinn, Ben, Henry. Predeceased by his sister Barbara Miller.
Joe found great joy by the water, whether casting a line or spending time relaxing by his pool. He was also a talented and gifted chess player. However, you could always get a rise out of him by jokingly calling him mediocre.
His greatest joy though, his family. They meant everything to him.
Special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the South Huron Hospital for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date. Inurnment Hensall Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Kay, Jackie, Steve and families.
Stuart and I were sad to hear of Joe’s passing. We always enjoyed spending time with him over the years. He was a kind and gentle man. It is always hard to lose a loved one. There are many steps in grieving. Over the years I have found our memories are our greatest gifts in healing. Cherish them and know that people who care about you are thinking and praying for you. You have an angel watching over you. Love, Stuart and Madeline
Kay, Jackie and Joe’s family:
You and your family are in our hearts and thoughts.
I enjoyed and appreciate the many chats had with Joe over the years.
Our sincere condolences.
Thinking of you Kay and your family! He was a kind man!
Joe was a cool man. I know he held his friends close to his heart. Always taking classes to further his education ~ and engineer of bridges and a Mariner’s licence were just a couple of examples of this. Always very humble and took a backseat in discussions. I remember so well the day I met him and learning my last name he asked if my dad’s name was Ron and went by “Pinky” – turned out that Joe and his friends used to go to the arena to watch my dad play hockey in their youth! So cool that the world truly is a small place, and in this world I was glad to become part of his family. A fantastic grampa to our kids who loved him. Fishing and boating trips were a highlight.
My sincerest condolences to the entire family and his friends

We are saddened to learn the passing of Joe. My wife and I had a lovely afternoon with Joe , his dear wife and Steve by the pool of their wonderful home backyard last summer at Hensall. Deep sympathy to the entire family of Joe,especially Joe’s dear wife and Steve. We will remember the once of life time met together. There is a Chinese quote we would like to share with the family and friends of Joe at this moment , ” TO some it seems he has departed but is still alive…” May Joe be in peace!!! Love never end!!!

Kay and family. So sorry for your loss. You and Dave were instrumental in my buying my first house In Barrie and he was a great co-worker at CFB Borden
My sincere condolences to Kay and the family. Dave as we all knew him at CFB Borden was the best supervisor I had. He was a good friend who invited us into their home. He also took me fishing. Also was great support when I was going through a rough time when they were living in Barrie. Enjoyed visiting them in Hensall. Take care Lorenzo.
