Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Huron Hospice, Clinton. Dave passed away, leaving behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Maureen (Culligan) Wildfong.
He was a proud father to Jackie Wildfong of Sarnia and Dan Wildfong (Meagan) of Texas, and a devoted grandfather to Spencer, Julia, Nolan, and Riley, as well as great-granddaughter Maddie, who brought him immense joy.
Dave is survived by his sisters Marj Ebel (Bill) and Lois Costello (Ben), and his brothers-in-law Gerry Culligan (Linda), Howard Culligan, John Culligan (Judy), and Kevin Culligan (Kim). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and his loyal dog, Ben.
Dave was predeceased by his son Patrick; his parents, Roy and Wilma (McNichol) Wildfong; his parents-in-law, Ike and Denise Culligan; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law Steve Culligan, Cathy Culligan (Stuart), and Joanne Stoltz Culligan.
Dave dedicated over 35 years to Canadian Pacific Railway and Southland Railway. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished time spent outdoors with his friends, and he took great pride in cheering on his children in all their pursuits.
Dave wasn’t the sentimental type and there won’t be another like him. A true guy’s guy, he worked with his hands, said what he meant, and never wasted time on fluff.
He loved the outdoors and his garden, a good hunt, his family, and his regular coffee shop visits. If you were in his circle, you were lucky and always entertained. His story-telling entertained many and especially at family gatherings.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Saturday, June 6th from 1 – 4 PM with words of remembrance at 2:30 PM. To honour Dave, please dress casually. A private family interment will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery, Mitchell.
Donations to Huron Hospice or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
We would like to thank Dr. Potvin, Dr. Hana at LHSC, Dr. Percival, and all the doctors at Huron Hospice who helped him through his long battle with cancer. To the amazing nursing staff and volunteers at Huron Hospice, you are so special and forever etched in our hearts. To all his friends and family for all the great visits and messages.

My deepest condolences to the Wildfong family. We had so many great memories hunting with Dave over the decades and the best memories were always the fall hunts with the coon hounds.
