VAN BOXMEER: Henricus “Harry” of Ilderton

It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Henricus “Harry” Van Boxmeer on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 of Ilderton , at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Tina (Van Bussel) Van Boxmeer for 64 great years. Proud father of Harry (Dawna), Gary (Arlene), Frances (Doug), Joe (Rebecca), Chris (Michelle), and Tina-Marie. Adored Opa of Patrick (Mikayla) and Cameron; Olivia, Scott (Kelley), Jen, Jocelyn, and Leanne; Samantha (Marc), Tristen and Emily; Chloe and Jacqueline; Jacob and Eve and Great-Opa of Brody and an expected great grandson. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Richard and Truus Willems, Gerard and Francine Van Boxmeer, Louis and Lucy Van Boxmeer, from London Ontario, and also Lina Van Den Tillart (Thieu), Marietje and Jas Van Kessel, Ann and Jan Van Burgen, Jan and Joe Van Boxmeer, Theo (Maria) Van Boxmeer, Mien and Harrie Raalijmakers, Piet and Nelly Van Boxmeer, and Joe and Riek Van Boxmeer, all from Holland. Harry will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, the Van Bussel families and many friends.

Harry immigrated to Canada in 1954 with his brother Louis when he was 24 years old. He came to Canada with next to nothing, but quickly settled into his new homeland and started his own business with Louis. Van Boxmeer Construction remains today as a thriving company with the third generation of Van Boxmeer’s easing into the ownership role. It was here in Canada he met his lovely wife Tina Van Bussel and together they raised a wonderful family and taught each of their children the value of hard work. Harry and Tina travelled to various places later in life, including back home to The Netherlands, Alaska, and Australia. Harry was an avid flyer, owning and flying a small private plane through a flying club with Harry Wraith and others, that is still in operation today. Opa’s smart wit, smiles and warm heart will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Oakcrossing for their care and compassion over the years.

Tante Tiny and Family
We want to send our sincere condolence for the loss of Ome Harrie. There are so many memories of an uncle who always wanted to tease. We go back a long ways, to when he lost his fingers, drove us to school in that red truck, when he lived with us, the delicious raisin buns on his wedding day. Helping my mom out after my father his brother Richard passed. The good Lord will find a place in his mansion for him, may God rest his soul.

He was an excellent carpenter who designed and built the hearth around our fireplace.
He will be missed.

Condolence from Dave & Linda Barr on January 25th, 2023 7:20 AM

Our condolences to Tina & family. I got to know Harry both because of my good friend Jeff Roestenberg and also as a competitor in the construction industry. He always had a sharp pencil and we never regretted losing a project to his company. We at least knew it would be built well and with integrity. Now the younger generations will carry on in his footsteps.
