UNGARIAN: Jack “Funky” of Seaforth, formerly Whitecourt, AB

Passed away peacefully after a short illness at Seaforth Community Hospital on Friday, July 10, 2026 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Margaret (Reeves) Ungarian for 63 years. Cherished father of Colleen Ungarian, and Bruce and Pat Ungarian. Adored grand paw of Cocoa, Jackson, and Digby. Dear brother and brother-in-law Darlene Gabrielson, George and Gloria Reeves, and Ray Childs. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Stephen Ungarian, brother Larry Ungarian, sister Sandra Ungarian, brother-in-law Buzz Gabrielson, sister-in-law Meta Childs and his parents Steven and Effa (Hobson) Ungarian.

Music was Jack’s greatest passion, and for more than 50 years he rarely went anywhere without his bass guitar close at hand. An accomplished and dedicated musician, he found his greatest joy in sharing his talent with others, playing in communities near and far. He looked forward to travelling to Florida, where he spent time making music with the many friends he had met over the years, friendships that were built through a shared love of song. Jack also enjoyed attending countless jamborees, where he could be found surrounded by fellow musicians and music lovers alike. Whether on stage or simply strumming among friends, his music brought people together and left lasting memories with everyone who had the pleasure of listening.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date, please check back for service details.

Donations to Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
