I have great memories of Mrs. Beattie from her days at the Seaforth Library where I had the pleasure of working for her for a year. My thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

I remember Mrs. Beattie from my early years when I would go to the Seaforth Library. I would scamper up the steps, open the big door and there she would sit behind the big desk. (at least to a child it seemed huge). She was kind, she was friendly and I always thought she was beautiful. She introduced me to a world of literature….countless new friends found between the covers of the books I read. She was one of the first people to share her passion of literacy with me, and it has stayed. A few years ago I went to Ottawa to the Canadian Library Association conference to receive an award on behalf of a library program I work for. In my speech I made reference to your mother and the important influence she had on me as an early reader. She was important to a lot of people. My sincere sympathy to you, her family. May your good memories of her help to comfort you through this difficult time.

Mrs. Beattie (also, husband Les)was a great friend over many years to both my parents, Peter & Margaret Bannon.I always remember her sense of humour & love of life. My mother,Margaret sends her deepest sympathy to the Family,she will miss Stella very much!
