STEEPER: Ada Marie (Ward) of Lucan

At LHSC-Victoria Hospital on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the age of 77 with her husband Norman Steeper by her side as he was for 58 years. Loving mother of David and Tammy Steeper of Gibson’s BC. Immensely proud grandmother of Tyson Steeper of Gibson’s BC. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Harold and the late Alice Ward of St. Catharines Ross and Mary Ward of Port Dover. Ada will be fondly remembered by the Steeper family and her nieces and nephews. She was the dedicated treasure of the Lucan Seniors and a proud recipient of the Bob Secord Award.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later time when those who loved Ada are able to gather safely. If desired, memorial donations to Arthritis Society or the Salvation Army would be appreciated by family. Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan entrusted with arrangements.

Condolence from Steve Ward on January 3rd, 2022 9:04 PM

My dear Aunt Ada has passed away, and although we may feel a little sad,
When reminiscing the times with her – they were all very good – never bad!

She was someone who welcomed all six of us kids because we would always behave,
In fact, I once overheard her say – that we were easier to mind than her son Dave!

At their trailer with my own family was always fun as we swam in the lake that was deep,
Lisa and I would play cards with her and Norm after Kayla and Dev went to sleep!

She always had a smile and a kind thing to say when we would get into a talk,
My Sister Sandy looks a lot like her, especially the way that they walk!

She never let on when she wasn’t feeling well, she’d simply give a little shrug,
I’m sure when she passed my mom was there to welcome her and give her a warm hug!

All Love to Norm, David, Tammy, and Tyson!

Steve

It has been many years since our paths have crossed. You were my well liked teacher for both grades 7 and 8, in 1971 at Biddulph Central. Then we met again, in the late eighties, early nineties, as you were the principal at Valleyview Public School, for my three young sons.

Today, sadly, you are a grieving husband, father and grandfather for your beloved wife of so many years. I am so sorry for your great loss, and wish to send my sincere condolences at this very sad and difficult time.

My Aunt Ada
Soft spoken and kind
She was my favourite aunt.
Even though I have not seen her these past two years, I am thankful for all the times we did get together. It never mattered how long you went between visits, she was always happy to see you.
I have many wonderful memories throughout my life, but the most kind one was during my son’s funeral. My son had loved the colour red and I wore a red dress to the visitation and funeral. Not everyone thought it was an appropriate choice for me.
The morning of the funeral, Aunt Ada showed up in a red dress. ♥️
My heart goes out to you Uncle Norm, David, Tammy, Tyson and everyone that is feeling the loss of this wonderful woman.
