I was going to read this poem at Ali’ memorial. I took part in the service.
I will post it here for everone to read.

God looked around his garden,
And saw an empty place.
He then looked down from heaven,
And saw your weary face
He knew that you were suffering,
And a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you,
And whispered,”Come with me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you,
As you slowly slipped away.
And though we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
Many times we’ve needed you,
And many times we’ve cried.
If love could have saved you,
You never would have died.

My family is coping with the loss of one of our favourite auntys. Ally was a wonderfull person who always made us laff. I remember when I was a child she would give us kids ice cream n say “You dont like ice cream.” As a joke. :-}
We always looked forward to her coming into town. She would take my mother and sisters and me shopping to Kmart and Woolco thats where I discovered my love for tigerstripe ice cream cones. My family and I and many others are going to miss her so much. Words can not explaine how much we love her. There will never be anyone else like her. May she rest in peace. God bless….

Did you know our mom gave birth to 14 children in 19 years; 13 in a hospital but Alice popped into the toilet bowl, and dad had to fish her out.
Our dear mom gave birth to four of us in just five years. Even more incredible is the fact that brother Ernie was seven when his 7th sibling Bob, was born. That’s eight children in just seven years.
Still on births: Alice’s memorial is on March 9th, the 106th anniversary of our mom’s birth. And our Alice was the third Wells with the names Alice & Winnifred. It was our mom’s name and the name of our first-born sister who died in 1921
When I was born, Alice showed Florence my double thumb. Spotting Mrs. Hopgood, the VON nurse, on the street, Florence ran telling her “my new brother has two thumbs”. To which the jaded nurse replied: “yes, they all do, my dear”. Florence was stunned and exclaimed: “they do?”
On that day, Alice was four, Elsie was three, and Violet was one. The four of them loved dolls, so naturally I loved dolls. Of course I only got the hand-me-downs, or the boy dolls, but I loved them. Until I told my dad I wanted a doll-buggy for Xmas. He exploded “No”. I wailed and pleaded “but they all have one”, and Alice laughed till she wet her pants.

On behalf of Viola Ducharme’s familiy we send our deepest sympathies for the loss of a wonderful mother and grand-mother. We all have very found memories of she and Uncle Charlie. We have all been fortunate enough to enjoy some of her beautiful knitting and crotcheting. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. We will have a mass said in her memory.
