SOUDANT: Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Anne (Bannister) of Zurich

Elizabeth Anne Soudant (Bannister) passed away peacefully at Jessica’s House (Hospice) on October 13, 2023, in her 80th year with her family by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband Frank Soudant. She will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law Pollyanna and Todd Becker; her son and daughter in law Aaron and Brigette Soudant. Forever loved by her grandchildren Dylan Becker, Aiden, and Haylee Soudant. Survived by her brother, Robert Bannister, and her sister Mary Roy. She was predeceased by her mother and father John and Nellie Bannister and sister Sara Jane Meisner. Libby was born in Belleville, Ontario on April 14, 1943. She spent most of her childhood summers in Morrisburg, Ontario with her older sister Sara Jane and her Aunt Sadie and Jane Dillen. Mom has many memories of swimming in the St. Lawrence River during her summers as a child.

Libby’s family moved frequently due to her father John being a bank manager. They finally settled in the Zurich area where she met her husband Frank where they farmed and raised their family.

Libby was one of Elvis Presley’s biggest fans and was an official member of the Elvis Presley Fan Club. She loved spending time at the beach with her family and friends and took great pride in her home and gardens. She was a very kind, generous and loving woman. Some of our fondest memories with our mom were family gatherings and holidays where she always made everything so special and fun. Those memories, we will cherish forever.

In keeping with Libby’s wishes, she will be laid to rest in Morrisburg, Ontario beside her mother and father on Oct 21, 2023. There will be no formal services. In lieu of this, please share any memories you have about Libby on the Haskett website.

Should you wish to make any donations in Libby’s memory, please make them to Jessica’s House Hospice in Exeter Ontario.

We are so honored to have had such a wonderful woman in our lives. Even though you are no longer with us, you will be in our hearts forever. We will see you on the beach for a picnic someday mom……

W.e have lost a wonderful friend. I was at Frank and Libbys wedding and we have been friends for decades. We took turns hosting Sunday dinners and no one set a finer table than Libby. There was always four vegetable dishes and three desserts , usually layer cake , Pie and a tort or a mousse. In the summer we went on Sunday picnics and our children played together and enjoyed each other’s company. We celebrated New Years together and the countless Saturday nights at our snowmobile shack in the winter. We were very much part of each others lives, we socialized and enjoyed each others company. We have wonderful memories to comfort us. Rest in Peace Lib , you have earned it. We will miss you and we love you

To Libby’s family: I am shocked to read of your mom’s death this morning as I did not know that her time was near! Memories …there are many …from her visits to The Feather Tick …helping us there at times and of course all the years she worked with Dave at Dave Moore Fuels Ltd. I think what I remember the most was her big smile and frequent laughter! Libby was a kind and compassionate woman who will be missed!

Condolence from Joan Koszo on November 2nd, 2023 6:53 PM

Dear Pollyanna and Aaron & families,
I was so happy to have visited with your Mom at the Soudant gathering in August as it had been some time since I had seen her. We were reminiscing about when Aunt Libby and Uncle Frank took my sister Edie and I to Grand Bend to the beach and roller skating when we came to Zurich to visit. They would take us for pizza and pop which was a treat for us back in the 60’s. Some of these times were from before they married, and we were invited to their wedding. Many fond memories of both your parents. May they both rest in peace.
Cousin Joan (Brenders) Koszo
