It is with great sadness that the family of Vera Smith announce her passing at Stratford General Hospital on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the age of 60. Dear mother and mother-in-law of Dana and James Truckle of Clinton, and Kim Smith and Dominic Lachance of Barrie. Dear grandmother of Halley, Tyler, and Dylan. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Nellie Van Diepen, Mary and Bill Mole, Andy and Karen Van Diepen, Anne and Norm Kennedy. Remembered by nieces and nephews Tammy, Mike; Julie, Barb; Ryan; David, Nicole and their families. Fondly remembered by the Smith family. Predeceased by her daughter Tannis Smith (1990) and her parents Sybilla (2002) and Arie (2013) Van Diepen, and nephew Robert Kennedy (1985).
Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will take place at a later date with spring interment in Egmondville Cemetery. Haskett Funeral Home, SEAFORTH entrusted with arrangements.
Donations to the CMHA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Our condolences to all the families. Vera worked for us for 2 years and always enjoyed each day she drove taxi. She was a a great coworker and it grew into a wonderful friendship.
Vera will be sadly missed.. She is at her peace..💜🦋
I had the honour of meeting Vera at Huronview. She was so kind to my mom and always watched for opportunities to quietly help her out. To be honest, I’m not sure how my mom would have got along without her help.

Vera was my mom’s roommate at Huronview. Due to Covid, I could not visit with her then, but I had met her previously in the home. A very pleasant lady, and my mom would agree. My condolences to her family.

I live in the apartment building that Vera lived in. I would visit her at Maitland Nursing home and take her treats. I will miss her.

So very sorry of the passing of your Mom. A great lady who I met in my Junior Farmer days and later a friendly neighbour when you girls were so young. May you fond memories keep her close at heart ❤️
