SMITH: Marlene (Petzke) of Seaforth

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Wayne Smith (1993). Cherished mother of the late Dan Smith (1973), Deb Smith and the late Jim Nixon(1985), and Doug and Martha Smith. Proud grandma of Tim (Amanda), Greg (Erica), the late Bill (2003), Laura (Jeff), Jason (Shannon), and Derek (Marcia) and great-grandma of Daniel, Megan, Lilly, Lucas, Logan, Piper, Lauryn (Justin), Malcolm, Haden, Cohen, Halle, and Connor. Dear sister-in-law of Elson Smith, Harold and Mary Smith, and Ruth Smith. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Rudy and Pearl Petzke, and sister and brother-in-law Edna and Joe Atkinson.

Marlene worked for 30 years, alongside her husband at Wayne and Harold Smith Construction. She loved going for car rides, taking in the beauty of the countryside. Above all, she loved her family with all her heart and enjoyed every moment with them.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, SEAFORTH on Monday, May 5th from 11 – 12:30, where Marlene’s memorial service will be held at 1 PM. Cremation with interment Hensall Union Cemetery.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society Huron Perth would be appreciated by the family.

So sorry for the loss of your dear Mother and Grandmother.
