SMITH : Peacefully, on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at University Hospital, London, surrounded by the love of her family, Margaret June (Ratz) Smith of London, age 97. Beloved wife of Thomas Earle Smith. Loved mother and mother in-law of the late Brian Smith (2023) and Julie Smith of South Bruce, Bruce & Lorna Smith of Stephen Twp and Carol & Hugh Crumplen of Courtice. Cherished Grandma and Great grandma of Christine & Andy Hall (Griffin & Lillian ), Brooke & Andrew Ferguson (Sadie & Amelia ) Trevor & Sadie Smith ( Alexis, Kaden & Oscar), Paige & Ethan Teague ( Baby Teague July 2025), Heather & Matthew McConnell (Brody) and Mark Crumplen. Predeceased by her parents Roy & Clara (Haist) Ratz and brother’s Harvey Ratz and Donald Ratz. Margaret took great pride in the 71 wonderful years she shared with her beloved husband, Earle. Together, they built a life full of rich memories, from the many places they called home during Earle’s military service to their cherished time spent in Myrtle Beach and other “homes away from home.”
Margaret had a gift for bringing joy wherever she went, her infectious laughter lighting up every room. She will be lovingly remembered by her family for her warmth, her remarkable talents in the kitchen, and especially for her unforgettable cheesecake.
Above all, Margaret was incredibly proud of her family, who brought her endless joy and fulfillment throughout her life.
At Margaret’s request cremation has taken place. A private family grave side service and Interment will be held at the Crediton Cemetery. Memorial donations to Crediton United Church or a Charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.
