Doug was such a great person. I have never met a man that was always smiling, always wanting to help at our get together and he loved my grandsons like they were his own. He surely will be missed but knowing for sure that he is with Jesus is a precious comfort to us. Sending unending love to Chris and family❤️

Penny is dear friend of mine and these parents have raised one heck of a lady. She is beyond amazing . I never met Doug or Christine but I remember this beautiful storey from years back. I believe it was shortly after he was diagnosed. Penny’s mom found a extension cord all taped up. On that tape Doug wrote .
Doug +Christine = ❤️, over and over again . In my mind right then I knew exactly where Penny got her cuteness:) Thinking of you all . Xo

My mom and dad (Jerry & Shirley Steele) have asked that I send their love and condolences at this most difficult time. They remember the fun times at Turnbull’s Grove and what a kind, caring family the Smith’s were. They were sad to hear of the passing of “Young Doug” as they often called him. My mom is not well enough to attend but wants you to know that you are in their thoughts.
Please accept condolences from Mike and myself.
Sending heartfelt hugs from Jerry & Shirley Steele, your friends from Turnbull’s Grove❤️
