SMIT: John of London and Wymbolwood Beach, Tiny Township

Peacefully, surrounded by family, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Monday, May 3, 2021 of London and Wymbolwood Beach, Tiny Township in his 90th year.  Dear husband of the late Connie Smit (2017).  Dear step-father of Wilma and Alex Frey, Peter and Jackie Martens, Annelies and Peter McGovarin, Chris and Gary Banks, and John and Cathy Martens.  Dear grandfather of Jennifer and Doug Dolan, Rebecca and Ashby Carnochan; Andrew Martens and Melanie Curado, Tracey Martens; Michelle and Dan McGovarin-Garvey, John McGovarin and Melissa Ford, Alicia McGovarin and Matt Comartin; Margot and Mike Hirst, Lauren Banks, Vanessa Banks, Andrea Banks; Emily Martens and Matthew Bujaki, and Jacob Martens and Alanna Mills.  Cherished great-grandfather of Erin and Amy Dolan, Jack Carnochan, Dexter and Devyn Martens, Amelia and Emmit Curado, Connor, Kaia, Brienne, Fiona and Rowan Hirst, and Liliana and Evan McGovarin-Garvey. Predeceased by his parents, siblings, and granddaughter Erica Banks (1994).

A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11 AM with Reverend Matthew Martin officiating. Interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.
