Nora Catherine (Hall) Skinner
Born March 27, 1943 and passed peacefully with her children at her side at Jessica’s house on April 17, 2026.
Predeceased by her parents John (Jack) Hall (1979) and Mary (McCormick) Hall (2002), husband Terry Skinner (1992), sister Mary Ann Marshall (1992), sister Anne Bob (2004), sister Peggy Chapman (2014), in laws Albert Skinner (1987) and Patricia Skinner (2004) and brothers in law Cliff Bob (2015), Al Skinner (2015) and Bill Cox (2022).
Survived by her children Kate and Jeff Mason and Mike and Tiff Skinner, her grandchildren Luke, Sam and Annie Mason, Stella and Jack Skinner, as well her siblings John Hall, Carolyn and Bill Woodburn, Lorraine Hall and Tony Meidinger, and Phil and Mary Agnes Hall. She is also survived by her sister in law Patricia Cox, brother in law George Chapman, and her niece/honorary daughter Jenny Woodburn. Nora was also loved by her step children Greg and Sandra Skinner and by her granddaughter Talia, partner Taylor and children Theo and Ella.
Nora grew up on a farm in Mount Carmel, the third of eight children. She and Terry bought their home in Grand Bend in 1973 and she lived there happily for almost 53 years.
Nora loved travelling and some of her favourite memories were of her travels in her twenties with her friend Linda backpacking through Europe and her missionary work in Mexico. She was also lucky enough to travel with her siblings in later years which she enjoyed immensely. She spent a few short years as a teacher at South Huron District High school and then 35 years as a social worker at the Children’s Aid Society, mostly in London. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, reading, the Mandarin, a good rye and coke and way too much CNN.
A special thank you goes out to her sisters Carolyn and Lorraine who were her constant caregivers in the last 8 months. Thanks also to Dr. Hammond and the staff at GBACHC, as well as Dr. Lam and the amazing caregivers Jessica’s house for their care. Our time with mom at Jessica’s house was priceless and we are truly lucky to have such an amazing place in our community.
Donations to Jessica’s house in lieu of flowers. Casual drop in Celebration of Life planned at the Southcott Pines Clubhouse (10246 Lakeview Ave, Grand Bend) on April 25, 2026 from 2-5 pm.
Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.

Nora was always such a kind and steadfast person. She was always willing to listen and offer an intelligent piece of advice even when presented with not so intelligent ideas from us guys. Nora was an important part of a lot of people lives.I give my condolences to the family and friends.
I would like to pass along my condolences to Nora’s friends and family .
I am so sorry to hear about Nora. I worked with Nora and occasionally stopped in to see her after she retired. I remember once seeing this tall, sun tanned woman sauntering barefoot down the sandy Grand Bend roadside and to my delight, it was Nora. We spent the rest of the day laughing and reminiscing in her garden. She will be truly missed and her good works made a difference.

There are no words that can truly ease the pain of losing a mother. I hope many cherished memories will bring your family comfort in the days ahead.
While it has been many years since our high school days, it was great to get together in recent years and reminisce with Nora and other classmates.

Kate,Jeff and family. Passing on love and support to you at this difficult time. She was always such an important part of your family adventures .
Dear Kate, Mike, & All Nora’s Family
Nora was the most incredible woman. Those of us privileged enough to have developed friendships with her through Children’s Aid learned a great deal from her, both professionally & personally.
Even after Nora retired, several of us tried to stay in touch. Drop ins, a lengthy catch up call, dinner together. Nora loved her children, grandchildren & the rest of her family. She shared many highlights of your times together. Although of late, we did not see one another, I often thought of your Mom. She was a stabilizing force for so many youth & foster families over the years. Her favourite times though were always with you.
She will always remain in our hearts❤️
My condolences to the family my friends Greg & Sandy Skinner & heard about Nora lots as know she will be missed. Doug Corriveau and family.

My condolences to the family ,You will always have good memories
Dear Kate, Mike and family: Nathalie and I and our family want to share our sincere condolences on the passing of Nora. I have great memories of visiting Aunt Nora on day trips to Grand Bend when we were young. While I do not have direct memories of her time living with and helping her poor sister Mary Ann cope with new born twins in Peterborough- I do recall our mother and father being truly appreciative of her help- hard to imagine 23 year old Mary Ann and 21 year old Nora and how they were parenting! Always kind, thoughtful and inquisitive with a strong sense of adventure.
We will miss her and know all of you will certainly miss her too. Our thoughts are with you.
Shawn, Nathalie, Philip, Patrick and Natalie, Katherine and Alex
