Peacefully at London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus after a courageous life on Sunday, September 5, 2004 Siebergjen ‘Sieb’ (Riemersma) Poortinga of the Exeter Villa in her 91st year. Predeceased by husbands Jacob de Jong (1954) and George Poortinga (1984) and children Durk (1954),  Aaltje (1954) and Wopkje (1959) de Jong. Survived by step-children Bertha van Soest, Jim and Henny Poortinga, Clarence and Pat Poortinga, Henry and Hilly Poortinga, Janke Wielenga and Alice Den Otter and 2 sisters and 1 brother. Also survived by 16 step-grandchildren, 21 step great-grandchildren and special niece Aaltje and Hendrik de Jong. Predeceased by step son-in-law John van Soest (2003) 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may call at the Hopper Hockey Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 west of Main, Exeter on Tuesday evening 7-9 pm and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at Exeter Christian Reformed Church 330 Huron Street West, Exeter on Wednesday, September 8th at 2 pm with Pastor Harry Frielink officiating. Interment Exeter Cemetery. Donations to Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (Sudan Refuge Fund) would be appreciated by the family.
