Peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, October 28, 2016 in her 92nd year. Wife and soulmate of her beloved Jack for 65 years. Loving mother of Pat (Cora), Wendy (Larry), Tracey (Don), and Tim. Devoted grandmother of Jake, Liz, Nikki, Rachel; Katerina, Patrick; Christopher, Jacqueline; Abby, Drew and great-grandmother to Erik. Predeceased by her sisters Bea Bere, Ida Armitage, Ruby Dickens, Marj Martin, and brothers Harold, and Maurice. Born in Lucan, Shirley worked at the Lucan Creamery before marrying Jack and moving to the Ryan farm on the 16th concession of London Township where they raised their family. Shirley worked in the office at the Denfield Sales Barn for more than 25 years. As they neared retirement, Jack and Shirley managed the newly built Lions Parkview Place where they later lived. Over the years Shirley dedicated countless hours, cakes, and casseroles to her many friends and neighbours in the community. Her tireless work with the UCW and the Lucan Lions Club will be fondly remembered. Jack and family wish to thank Dr. Whynot and the tireless staff of Craigweil Gardens for their compassion and care for the last eight and a half years.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM and again for one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be held on Monday, October 31st at 11 AM with Rev. Bruce Pocock officiating. Interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the VON – Middlesex Elgin Branch or Craigweil Gardens would be appreciated by the Ryan family.

She was such an inspiration to those of us who knew her whether it was within the church, the Lions Club, neighbourhood or community. She & Jack have always been such good role models in their marriage, family and community.

I have such great memories of being with you and your family on the farm – riding a pony for the first time – riding the hay wagon while Uncle Jack collected bales – sitting at the liveliest of kitchen tables for dinner – so many laughs and smiles – I know you will miss your Mom so much, as I have missed mine since she died. My Mom (Rene) thought the world of your Mom. They were family women through and through and gave us so much to aspire to. Thank you for the beautiful slideshow. It’s so nice to see all of your Ryan family and to also see the shots of the Cobleigh girls over the years. In her younger years she was a great dancer, and taught many young teenage boys to dance. We worked at the sale barn at the same time, Shirley was always a friendly person , cheerful, an up person, that always made you feel better after talking to her.

Very Sad to hear this news, I just saw it posted today Nov 1st, Shirley was one of the relatives I remember very clearly early on in life I remember always seeing Jack and Shirley at Grandma and Grandpa Dickins’s when I was a young kid she was always so kind she was like my other Grandma.
