Dear mother of Lynda and Tom Ford of Rodney and Tom and Joyce Workman of Kippen.  Ruth cherished her grandchildren: Murray and Kristin Workman of Kippen, Cheryl and Adam Garniss of Wingham, Marcy and Matthew McKillop of Mt. Brydges, Natalie and Shawn Gillis of Wardsville, Roberta and Nathan Falk of Crystal City, Manitoba, Laura Ford and Brock Smith, and Andrew Ford.  She was always interested in hearing about her great-grandchildren: Dean and Kate Workman, Ainsley and Evelyn Garniss, Gavin McKillop, Charles and Nora Gillis, and Ava Falk.  Dear sister of Mary Aldwinckle of Ottawa and sister-in-law of Phyllis Thompson of Clinton.  Predeceased by her brother Robert (Robin) Thompson, brothers-in-law Robert Aldwinckle and Lloyd Workman (Mary) and her parents Robert and Clarissa (Elliot) Thompson.

Ruth graduated from Westervelt College and worked in London for a few years before her marriage to Orville. They enjoyed travel and spent many winters together in Florida. Ruth was a bookkeeper at Hensall Livestock Sales and Corey Livestock Sales, Clinton.  She was an avid historian, and wrote the book “Kippen and its Families”, and most recently researched the Workman Family.  She also enjoyed the book committee and research for “Tuckersmith Memories 1835-1985”.  Ruth was always interested in community and loved visiting with people and had been a resident of the Exeter Villa since 2001.

Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, Exeter (1 street west of Main) on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Kippen on Saturday, December 22nd at 11 AM with Colin Synder officiating.  Interment Hensall Union Cemetery.
