Shannon was an amazing young person who was taken from the world far too soon. As one of her teachers, I saw her struggle with her illness every day from the front of my classroom, and saw her continue the fight well into her adult life. All the while, Shannon put the needs of others front and centre. She was a passionate, hard working, intelligent and caring person. She somehow always found the strength to speak in support of others, despite her own struggles. She continued to spread positivity and spur others into action. If she could find the strength to do that… surely we can all follow her example well into the future. May Shannon rest knowing that her influence has been strong. Love to Shannon’s family at this very difficult time.

Shannon was a rare gift of a human who touched so many lives. Her discussions in our history classes and her ideas were always so thought provoking. She made me smile with her tenacity, and I won’t ever forget her speaking at the school’s Terry Fox Run a few years ago. She always thought of others and showed us what one person could do to improve the lives of those around us. Shannon was a champion. She took a piece of this teacher’s heart with her.
