ROCK: Doris Joanne (Johns) of Exeter

Doris passed away unexpectedly at her home in Exeter on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Earl Rock (2003). Cherished friend of Bob Robinson. Loving sister of Margaret Miller and sister-in-law of Warren and Joanne Rock. Aunt Dory will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by the Robinson family. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Mary Johns, parents-in-law George and Laura Rock, brothers Ken Johns and Don Johns, sister-in-law Marjorie Johns, brother-in-law Barry Miller, nephew Roy Johns, niece Mary Jane (Johns) Forrester, and nephew-in-law Ron Elliott.

Doris loved to be around people, entertaining and ensuring everyone was having a good time. She was a wonderful host and loved to cook for friends and family and of course enjoyed a game of cards. Her smile and sense of humour will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street, EXETER on Saturday, September 20th from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, where Doris’ funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Interment St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Brodhagen.

To the Rock, Johns, Miller and Robinson families and to all the residents (friends) of the Crossing Apartment where Dori lived. Dori always had something to say to us at Thursday morning coffee, our Socials and at happy hour which always made us laugh. She was always happy helping anybody with meals when they were sick or for any other reason. She looked forward to her dear friend Bob coming for meals as well, always sending something home for Bob to eat until the next time. Doris took care of as many as she could. We your friends at the apartment, are still talking of your departure so quickly.
Rest in pease, Dori until we meet again.

So sorry to hear about Dory’s passing. She was the first person we met when we moved to Exeter over 15 years ago. She was our dear neighbour who always invited us to dinner or just sit on our back deck to chat. She was a fantastic next door neighbour who volunteered to check on our condo while we were in Florida. She loved the monthly dinner card parties with our friends. We always knew we could count on each other, especially when she was banging on our door when she had a fire. Peter ran in to get her out and tried to put the fire out until the firemen got here. It was really scary for all of us. I would ask her for a recipe and instead of giving me the recipe, she would just make it herself and bring it over. We will miss her.
