Condolence from Pam and Mark TarBush on January 19th, 2011 11:42 AM

Unfortunately I cannot attend this Friday, as I am in for my 58,000 mile (58 years old) check at Stratford General. Molly and family, one of my fondest memories of returning to my hometown in the early 80’s was to finally meet and get to know the Gilmores. Bob always had a sunny way about him and I always enjoyed the chats with Bob,Molly and Barb initially, and then Doug and Gay with whom I remained in touch. Pam and I are pleased to be friends with Doug and Gay some twenty five plus years later. Although I haven’t seen Bob in some years (the food court at Maisonville?) we were very sad to hear of his health problems during the past few years. We often asked about you both. Please accept our thoughts and prayers / Best / Mark

Condolence from Obituaries on January 20th, 2011 11:29 AM

Our condolences to Molly:

I just read in the Kitchener paper of Bob’s death and we are very sorry to hear that. I think I owe Bob for helping me get over my fear of bidding at sales… he always had such a nice, kind smile and took me by name, and I felt comfortable in sticking my neck out and going for it! He was a real gentleman and good friend, even if we didn’t see alot of you folks. To me you still seem to be “around the corner,” taking care of a little handicapped girl and busy as bees in your many activities! I can’t picture him at his present age! But we’re all getting there, I guess. We just don’t see each other alot to watch each other growing older.

It is with fond memories I recall many, many Saturday mornings with my family enjoying the auction, the commoraderie and friendship of Listowel.
With wishes from the whole Fagan Family,

Condolence from Evelyn and Mike Grosz on January 20th, 2011 4:26 PM

Dear Doug, Gay and the Gilmore family;
We wish to extend our deepest condolences on the loss of Bob.
He was such a wonderful man. Our fondest memories of Bob will always lead us to the auctions he so masterfully conducted. We’ll always remember the feeling it gave, when you finally discovered that he did,in fact, see your hand, and you got that treasure you were wanting. And even if you probably, to him, looked scared , even terrified….he always made you feel, in control, and very special that you indeed completed that bid.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, during this difficult time.
Very sincerely,
Evelyn and Mike Grosz, of Listowel
and also the Grosz Families, and Johnston Families

I had cause to speak with Doug recently and as always asked about his Mom and Dad. I was saddened to hear of the news from Brother-in-law Jack Gibson. I hold fond memories when we were all in our home town of Listowel. Marlene, my memory takes me back to your home farm and Hi School days. Wow, what a lot of water under the bridge since then!. You and Bob made one beautiful couple. I don’t know all of your family – but I do know Doug – if he is an example , you have been blessed with a wonderful family who will be by your side through the days ahead.
May God bless you all.

To All of the Gilmore Family

I was saddened to hear of Bob leaving us but I knew that God wouldn’t let him stay with us forever because he would surely need such a wonderful fellow to be with him. Quite simply, Bob was one of the good guys – always a warm smile and a sparkle in his eyes – everything just seemed right when Bob was around – he had a way of making everyone feel that they were the most special person in the room.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
