Suddenly at his home in Exeter on Friday, February 23, 2018 in his 85th year. Loving and devoted husband of Sally-Lou (MacWilliam) Raymond for 61 years. Loving father of Doug Raymond (Nancy) of Toronto, Catherine Raymond (Steve McKee) of Coldwater, and Tom Raymond (Cathy) of London. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Hannah, Cassie, Chris, and Heather. Loving brother and brother-in-law of Janet and Doug Davison. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Winifred Raymond (1988 and 2011), and sister Margaret Dunlop (2011). Peter graduated from Osgoode Hall in 1959, and practiced law in Exeter with his good friend and business partner Kim McLean, until his retirement in 1996. Peter and Sally-Lou loved to travel and have spent many summers in Bayfield, sailing and entertaining family and friends at their cottage along Lake Huron. He was a proud and dedicated member of the Exeter Lion’s Club for 49 years, and cherished the many friendships he developed over that time.
As per Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 1-3 PM at the Exeter Lion’s Youth Centre, 125 John Street, West, Exeter. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Exeter (519-235-1220).
In lieu of flowers, donations to South Huron Hospital Foundation-Jessica’s House or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

He was such a spirit, I will cherish memories of sharing a glass of wine and chocolate, hearing all about his different travels, time spent at the cottage, and of him missing the days of his kids and friends enjoying the back yard pool. Sally-Lou and family,
Very saddened to hear of Lion Peter’s passing. I have many fond memories of my visits to Exeter Lions, conventions and many other functions. Lion Peter was always one of the first to greet you when you arrived at the club and always there with a fond farewell. My last visit to Exeter Lions I was invited to speak about dog guides and introduce my canine vision dog guide Otis. When Lion Hilda, Otis and I walked into the Lions hall Lion Peter was there to warmly greet us, take us into the club room, got us seated and hurried off to get me a beer. We shared a few good stories and I always tried to have a story about a lawyer. Peter will be greatly missed. He had such a dedication and enthusiasm for Lions, his Exeter Lions club, as a mentor and story teller. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I’m sure you have many good memories to help you through. PDG Lion Larry Wainwright, Lion Hilda and Otis. Fergus ON

Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of Peter. He was a great friend in Lions and in Exeter. Peter (and Sally Lou)ALWAYS made my wife and I feel very welcome since the day we moved to Exeter in 1990.
Peter was a mentor of mine in Lions and in my business. I loved his honesty, his wit and his great sense of humour. We made each other laugh for years. One of our greatest adventures together was on a fishing trip to Lake Onaping in the mid 90’s. Between the black flies and mosquitoes (and the odd drink together)we managed to have a million laughs together. You really get to know a guy when you are stuck in a little 14 ft fishing boat with him for a few days ! He was a beauty.
Try to find comfort in knowing that Peter was loved by so many in Lions and in our community. He inspired so many of our younger Exeter Lions to do the best they can to make our community a better place to live and raise a family….just like Peter has done for so many years.
In many ways he and some of our more senior Exeter members have passed the torch to the next generation. And in so many ways I know he was proud of us !
I will miss him very much. I am honoured and proud to have known him and call Peter my friend.
Tom and Nancy Hartai
