RADER: Patricia June (Patterson)

RADER:  Peacefully, with her family by her side, June passed away at Hogarth Riverview Manor, Thunder Bay, on Friday, February 24, 2023. Patricia June (Patterson) Rader, of Thunder Bay, formerly of Exeter, Dashwood and London, was in her 90th year.  Beloved wife of the late Earl Edmund Rader (2015).  Loved mother of Katherine Turner of Thunder Bay, David Rader and his wife Julie Hill of Waterloo and Susan Rader of Thunder Bay. Loving grandma of Rachel Turner (Kyle Jacomb), Russell Rader (Sarah Harris-Lowe) and Lee Rader.  Cherished great-grandma of Oliver and Lincoln Jacomb, and Adelaide and Jolene Rader.  Dear sister-in-law of Ray Rader of Zurich, Floyd and Margaret Rader and Lloyd Rader all of Dorchester. Remembered by her many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her son-in-law Robert Turner, and in-laws Doris and her husband Colin MacGregor, Isobel, Dorothy and Audrey Rader and parents Alexander and Margaret (Brooks) Patterson.  June was an avid bird lover and especially enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at her and Earl’s home on the Shipka Line.  June had a wonderful sense of humour; she so enjoyed laughing and visiting with friends and family, playing cards, dancing, bowling and roller skating (in her younger days).  She was a longtime volunteer at St. James Westminster Anglican Church in London and at the Lioness Club of Grand Bend, and also enjoyed her work at the Department of Veterans Affairs and at The Bay. She had a very close relationship with all her children and was especially grateful to “her Suzie” who was the primary caregiver for both her and Earl in their later years. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:30 am at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood with interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Dashwood. The family would appreciate donations in June’s memory (payable directly) to Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind www.guidedogs.ca or a charity of your choice.

Condolences for the family of “RADER: Patricia June (Patterson)”

Condolence from Linda Balch on February 24th, 2023 5:59 PM

Dear Kathy, David, Julie and Susan,
Please accept our deepest sympathies on the loss of your Mom. Aunt June (JuneBug as my Dad called her) will always hold a special place in my heart.. I remember all of the family gatherings that were held at your parents’ place when we were children. As an adult, I now realize how much work this was for your Mom but she never complained. I especially remember Grandma’s 88th birthday celebration when Rachel was only a baby. I have a picture of Grandma and all of her great grandchildren on my wall that I look at every day. Know that I am thinking about all of you during this time.
Love Linda and Mark Balch

Condolence from Janice Finlay on March 7th, 2023 4:32 PM

My mom and dad ( Mae and Al)always counted June and Earl in their group of best friends and neighbours in Glendale. They shared many fun times including card games, etc together. June and Earl were always kind and caring.
We miss them both very much but take comfort in knowing they are reunited again.
Janice Finlay
