PRICE: Tom and Nori

PRICE, Thomas Burton & Price, Norah Mabel

Tom Price, peacefully, at Fox Hollow Retirement Home, London, on Monday, April 17, 2023, at the age of 84, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Nori Price (nee Woods), unexpectedly due to heart failure, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the age of 82.

Proud parents of Cindy (Marc), Heather (Ben) and Randy (Christine). Amazing Bubba & Nan to Eric, Alex, Danika, Taylor, Marley and Hayden. Remembered by their nieces and nephews: Laura, Ayla, Tara, Lisa, Donna, and Carla, John, Ben and their families.  Tom predeceased by parents Harold and Mabel Price. Eldest brother to Richard and Brian Price. Nori predeceased by parents Charles “Charlie” and Olive “Ollie” Woods, and brother Rollie and sister Wendy.

Tom was born Sept. 1, 1938 and Nori was born Dec. 9, 1940 both in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Tom and Nori met at the University of Manitoba and started dating after Nori asked him to a Sadie’s Hawkins dance. This led to a lifelong romance of 63 years. Shortly after Tom’s graduation with a Bachelor of Mathematics, they moved to Ontario to start their married life together. Tom started his lifelong career with General Motors of Canada in Oshawa. They raised their three children in various places in Ontario, notably Barrie and St. Catharines, before landing in London, On.

The family spent great summers out on the boat and winters together skiing. Tom was a car, boat and motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed amateur photography, tinkering with all things mechanical and was a “smart dresser”. Nori loved her fitness classes, bridge, had a passion for “doing arts” with her grandchildren, and volunteering with the Huron Country Playhouse Guild, Grand Bend, and always had a flair for fashion. Tom and Nori enjoyed challenging each other to games of Upwords and pool in the evenings. During the winters the family loved skiing and spent many days/nights at nearby London Ski Club (now Boler Mountain).

After retirement from GM, Tom and Nori moved to their dream retirement home in Southcott Pines, Grand Bend. Bubba loved greeting the grandkids, from the front deck with a stuffed elephant on his head, when they arrived for the many holidays and birthdays. Bubba also loved to get up early and take the grandkids to garage sales. Nori enjoyed all thing social and will be especially missed by friends Elizabeth and Max.

The whole family loved spending summer days at Sun Beach. Tom and Nori always loved the sun, and spent several winters in Florida, Arizona and other warm destinations.  During the winter months they would often visit their children in ski country and were amazing cheerleaders for their grandchildren’s skiing & snowboarding.

The family would like to thank Fox Hollow Retirement Home for the excellent care that Tom & Nori received. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be planned for early June in Grand Bend, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario (123 – 4096 Meadow Brook Drive, London, Ontario  N6L 1G4; www.psso.ca) or the London Regional Cancer Program. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.

My sincere condolences to Tom’s family. I worked closely with Tom when he was the roads chair in Southcott Pines. I remember he was so proud of the shower he tiled in their ensuite bathroom. So much so he showed it to me 3-4 times to show off his progress. But most of all he was the proudest of his Grand Kids. He talked about them all the time. You will be missed.

Nori was the daughter of my mother’s best friend. Tom was a classmate of mine for years at Lord Roberts School; he paid me a lovely compliment in Grade 1, which I’ve never forgotten for 79 years! Those two were truly made for each other. I’m glad they had such happy lives together.
