POCOCK: Rev. L. Bruce of Lucan

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bruce Pocock on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the LHSC – University Hospital, London, at the age of 85. He was the cherished husband of the late Pat (Rogers) Pocock, sharing 54 beautiful years together.

Devoted father to Lawrence Pocock of Innisfil, and Dave Pocock and Amanda Gillard of Lucan. He took immense pride in his role as a father and grandfather, doting on his grandchildren Taylor and Susan, Keira, Meaghan, Jacob, and Lucas. Bruce was a loving brother and brother-in-law of David Pocock of Guelph, Pauline and John Berridge of England, and George and Bonnie Rogers of England. Predeceased by his sisters Margaret, Betty, and Pat, and his brother Bob.

Throughout his early working life spanning over two decades, Bruce worked in numerous roles and responsibilities. However, he ultimately decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue Anglican Ministry. This diverse work experience served as a valuable guide as he played a significant role in the lives of many parishioners, from their baptisms to their funerals. Bruce was actively involved in various community causes, including the Royal Canadian Legion and his children’s sports teams, among many others. He cherished the lifetime of memories created with his family at Lake Simcoe at Big Bay Point. Bruce will be remembered by many for his unique qualities. To almost everyone, he will be fondly remembered for the Werther’s candies he carried in his pocket and his heartfelt farewell of “God Bless.”

Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan, on Monday March 11th, from 5-7 PM, and at the Church of the Ascension, 2060 Dundas Street, London, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 10 AM-11AM. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM at the Church of the Ascension, with The Right Reverend Dr Todd Townshend, Bishop of Huron and The Reverend Jim Garey officiating.  Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting https://www.youtube.com/@ascensionchurchlondon. Cremation has already taken place.

Donations to Alzheimer Society, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 540 Lucan, Church of the Ascension Health and Wellness Fund would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

My condolences to the family 🤗
I can’t remember when he 1st began to be the Minister in Lucan but I was 13 when we were confirmed by Bruce . He was a dear friend to my family as pastor at St. James, Clandeboye Church, he attended countless family events , my grandmothers birthday parties, baptized both my children, and probably the nieces and nephews Plus the weddings! He told blonde jokes to everyone at my sisters wedding reception !
And yes, the werthers candies!
To teach my children that it’s ok to accept this man’s candy!

I have had the privilege and pleasure to work with him these last few years.
He was such a character! Always a sweet man.
Oh Bruce 🤗
Rest in peace with your sweetheart

He certainly will always be remembered as a special part of Holy Trinity. Sorry for the loss of your dad, Lawrence and David. Keep you memories close to your heart. Love Penny
