PITTAO: Lina of Ilderton

At LHSC – University Hospital on Monday, May 30, 2022 of Ilderton and formerly of Udine, Italy at the age of 81. Loving wife of the late Bruno Pittao (2021). Dear mother of Tommy Pittao and Rosemary Guil, Tracy Hill, and Tina and Wayne Parry. Beloved Nonna of Jordan and Natalie, Josh; Madison and Paulina, Miranda; Luke, Zach, and Will. Dear sister of Pat Sandri and sister-in-law of Mario and Maria Pittao, Enzo and Theresa Pittao. She will be fondly remembered by Dianne Pittao, Benjamin Hill, and her nieces and nephews.

Lina will be remembered as a feisty entrepreneur who would not let the various obstacles in life slow her down. Her work ethic and determination were her hallmark traits. From her early teenage years working as seamstress, then on to hairdressing, and finally Lina, along side her husband Bruno created Pittao Homes, and went on to develop land and build houses. While her work accomplishments are impressive, Lina’s passion was for ballroom dancing, gardening, cooking, and traveling. Lina and Bruno made Cabo their second home and made many wonderful, lasting friendships there.

The talents of her green thumb were evident both inside and outside her home and each visitor would leave with a full stomach after a delicious Italian meal prepared with love. While she took great pride in her ability to care for all, it was her grandchildren that filled her heart.

Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 9:45 AM-12 PM. Those planning to attend the visitation are kindly asked to register below. A graveside service will be held later that same day at St. Peters Cemetery, London at 1 PM. Private family reception to follow.

Donations to Canadian Hearing Services or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Tina, Tracy, Tom and Families, On behalf of the Board of Directors of Residenza Affordable Housing and my wife, Sylvie, ourdeepest and most heartfelt condolences to you all. Lina was a quiet leader in the housing sector in the London community who did much work behind the scenes and never required public acknowledgement but only wanted to make sure people had a beautiful place to live. Her work and opinions on the board of the RAH was always considered as exemplary and was often what we had to hear last in order to make the best decisions possible. She was a visionary and a font of experience and will be sadly missed but her memory will live on as we move forward with new projects. She will always be an inspiration to our Board to do better. She will be missed.

Tom, Tracy , Tina and Families,
First Bruno and now Lina…an end to an era.
Lina was a pistol and one of the most formidable balls of energy I have ever met, never letting anything stand in her way.
She was always classy and took the high road in any business dealings or personal issues.
I enjoyed working with Lina and Bruno and counted them as friends, spending many hours at their kitchen table talking about projects and life.
They will be missed.
Deborah and I offer our most sincere condolences at this difficult time.
Sincerely, Tom and Deborah Albrecht

To Lina’s children. Your Mom was my hairdresser in the early 1960’s and my Mom’s hairdresser as well. It was during the time that your Mom was waiting for your Dad to come from Italy. I was in high school and your Mom became like a big sister to me. I never forgot her as she was such a wonderful lady. I will be thinking of you in the difficult days ahead.
