PENNINGA: Gertie of Exeter

Peacefully, at her home surrounded by her children on Sunday, January 10, 2016 of Exeter.  Beloved wife of the late Don Penninga (1980). Cherished mother of Jane Penninga of Exeter, Rob Penninga and Rose Patton of London, Judy and Bryan Kestle of Strathroy, Joyce and Gary Wurm of Exeter, Debbie Penninga and Shaun Connor of Exshaw, Alberta, and Don and Amy Penninga of Exeter.  Beloved grandmother of Steven; Marisa, Anthony; Brianna, Michelle, Ryan; Rick (Heather), and Emily (David).  Dear great-grandmother of Annabelle. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Susanna Speir of  Varna, Andrew and Ruth Imanse of Brea, California, Peter and Jean Imanse of Goderich, John Imanse of Varna, John and Rita Hoogenes of Brucefield, JoAnne and John Forestell of Guelph, and Darlene and Peter Stastny of London.  Fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her brother Frank, sister Janice DeVries, and brother-in-law Robert Speir.

Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, Exeter (1 street west of Main) on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  The funeral service will be held at the Exeter Christian Reformed Church, 330 Huron Street West, Exeter on Friday, January 15th at 11 AM with Pastor Kevin teBrake officiating. Interment Exeter Cemetery.

Donations to the Saint Elizabeth Health Care would be appreciated by the family.

Jane, Joyce and Don. So sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. I am glad I had the pleasure of knowing Gertie. She was such a sweet lady with a great sense of humor. It is hard to lose someone but be comforted by the thought that she will be watching over you all.

Last week we heard about your mother. When I visited my mother , she told me that Tante Ge has called her.
My memory’s off her is that she/you visited Holland, and that I was your guest in 1981.
Your mother was nice /lief, zorgzaam en kind.
I also saw the note of Cheril, I remember me that summer from the pictures.
You know, my englisch is not so good, but you know that I mean all of my writhings.You will miss her, and we think about her in love.
