Dear Phyllis and family. We are truly sorry to lose such a good man. He affected many children’s lives through his numerous years of fostering with Huron-Perth CAS. I remember sitting at the table listening to his stories about one child or another that he was fond of or still involved with. His contribution will not be forgotten.

Phyllis, & family;
Please accept our deepest sympathy. Harold will be missed by many and for many reasons. He was so active, interested and concerned with his Lodge. As the Lodge has dwindled in active members, he will certainly be missed there.
Donna has always spoken highly of her parents whenever we chat while we exercise. He must have been a special father. But I remember him (and you Phyllis) as foster parents to about 3 different children that I taught (and in 3 different schools.) Whenever there was a problem or a concern, you were both right there – no matter how far you had to drive. You were both interested in those special children; you were caring and loving and giving, but also firm. Just what they needed.
I also remember another time when I had just arrived home from an event in Centralia and it was a winter storm outside. All of a sudden the doorbell rang and it was Harold, standing there, covered with much snow and asking if he could use my telephone. He had been out repairing a refrigerator just about a mile from our home and on the way back, in the midst of this sudden white-out weather, he had gone into the ditch. Since we did not have a tractor nor a truck at that time, there was no way I could help him. He called a friend who came out in the blizzard to get him out of the ditch and away he went. I had never met Harold until that day, so we spent some time getting to know each other but I will never forget it. What kind of a person would go out on a stormy day to repair a fridge? Well, we know that a very special person, dedicated to their job and career, concerned and caring about others, would do it. And Harold was all of that and more. I am very honored that I had the privilege to know Harold in many different roles. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

So sorry to hear of Harold’s passing Phyllis. It is a long time since we worked together but I still think of you often.
Dear Phyllis, Jim & Mary Jane,
I was so sad to hear of the loss of Harold. It has been some time, since I’ve seen all of you but my latest memory was when I made a surprise visit to you at your house in Exeter when Dad (John Goldsmith) was visiting. That was a very nice visit. When I was young, I remember when Harold would come out to the farm in Zurich to look at the furnace when we would have any kind of trouble. He was always so pleasant & kind. Very fond memories, I must say. Keep all the memories close at heart, to help you through this difficult time.
