To: “My Cat” (as Dad always called him)

You may be unaware, though maybe not as your food supply was a little sporadic for a couple of days, that those ear scratches and belly rubs that you had come to love will no longer be coming from Dad. I know you loved and trusted him enough to become close, I regret he has passed on to that greater realm that eventually awaits us all. I will try on those times i visit, as that is if you deign to let me, to continue the ear scratches and belly rubs (i understand you are a cat and permission must be granted first). My condolences on your loss, he was my friend too and my father, and i know you miss him already, as all his family does.
