MORRISSEY: Gerald Edward of Kirkton and formerly of St. John’s, Newfoundland

October 29, 1954 -January 1, 2016

With saddened hearts, we say goodbye to our dearly loved brother.  Though we selfishly hate to let go, we would not wish him back for the world as he is now at peace.  Predeceased by his parents Gerald and Millie Morrissey.  Gerry is survived by his children Danny and Heather.  Also leaving to mourn, sister Diana (Ron Coady), brother Ronnie (Maria Silveira) and their families, along with very dear friends the Hamm family of Kirkton, Ontario – You truly were his angels. Our brother was a man of simple means and we shall miss him dearly.

Cremation has taken place with inurnment at a later date.

Donations in his name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

We cannot see our loved ones. And yet we know they are where life and love continue far beyond what we can see.

It breaks my sad heart into pieces to know that I will never see you again. Since the day I remember meeting you, your warm smile and giving heart (although you had a neck brace on) it did not steer me away from you, but with that, I had made a friend. A friend that would help guide me through my next 27 years of life. In my life, I have never met someone so genuine with open arms, as you, Gerry. And I know I never will again. You gave me guidance, you helped me whenever you were able, you taught me love, and hugged me when love went terribly wrong. You showed me truth, and the negative that would be brought upon if the truth wasn’t used where it was meant to. You were there for me when the whole world was against me (even if I had made it that way, unfortunately) if it wasn’t for you having the utmost respect for me, I fear my life would have been very bad. Never did you close the door in my face when you had nothing as well. There were nights we slept in the same bed, because it was the only bed that I had. I could go on and on, but I can’t see through my tears. You were a father/ grand father figure to me, and took me under your wing. Everyone knew I was safe at “Gerry’s” . The Lord placed you before me with plans of an amazing friendship that withheld through everything! For that I am very lucky. I will hold you very very close to my heart, forever and always. I love you, so very much…Heaven has sure gained a special angel, my angel. I love you.

Diana and Ronnie, I am so sorry to hear of Gerry’s passing. I enjoyed talking to him so much at Aunt Millie’s funeral. He seemed like a great guy. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

To Diane, Ronnie and family. Our hearts were aching with sadness when we heard the news. I (Pat) had the opportunity to meet Gerry years early. I heard so much about you when Diane and Ron were in Niagara. You will be really missed. Love from Geraldine, Pat ,Jim, Betty, and Hugh. See You.

Ronnie and Diana and all the family, I am so sorry and sad to hear of the loss of your brother.

Gerry was and always will be my first love. Dan looks and moves just like his father. Gerry was a grandfather also.
Heather has his heart. She thought I already knew but I just found out today, that he had died a year ago.
Ronnie I never thought that was the reason he did’t call me back.

Gerry, you will live on in the lives of our children and our grandchildren.
Love Cathy
