Lois Gwendolyn Morley of Hazel Park, went home to be with her Lord and Savior December 3, 2021. She was 105 years old. Gwen was born in Whalen Corners, Ontario, Canada on September 6, 1916 to Roy and Vera (Ogden) Neil.
Gwen has been a resident of Hazel Park since she was 6 years old. She was a graduate of Hazel Park High School in 1935. Gwen was a very active and long-time member of the Eastern Star as well as a past president of the PTA. She was also a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Park and a long time Sunday School teacher. Gwen had many joys in life including chocolate, birds, and the Royal Family. She enjoyed watching I Love Lucy, the Olympics, and America’s Got Talent. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them at numerous family gatherings.
Gwen was a devoted wife to the late Francis H. Morley who died in 1990. She also was preceded in death by two of their infant children, Gloria Dawn Morley, and Lois Carol Morley, and her younger sister Muriel Lynch. Gwen is survived by her children Carolyn (the late Don) Newbery of Hazel Park, MI and Kathleen (Bill) Simpson of Charlotte, MI grandchildren Darrin (Jan) Newbery, Becky (Kevin) Unternahrer, Vanessa (Josh) Hogarth, and Ian (Maisean) Simpson, great grandchildren Jada Newbery, Danielle (Matt) Webb, Aubrey (Kevin) Shelton, Zack Unternahrer, Noah (Mindy) Unternahrer, Micah (George) McCune, Josh Unternahrer, Chloe Hogarth, Scout Hogarth, Carter Simpson, and Finleigh Simpson, and great great grandchildren Olivia Unternahrer, Owen Webb, Eleanor Webb, Keegan Shelton, Quinn Shelton, and Laine McCune.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 7, at 5pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Michigan 48017. Family and friends are welcome to visit beginning at 2pm.
A private family graveside service will be held at St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye on Friday, December 10th at 10:30 AM. Hello to all the Morley family relatives and friends I remember Gwen and her husband Howard well. They came to the family Morely reunion hosted at our home near St. Marys in the country. (unit 2397 Perth Road 163) We always enjoyed hosting everyone and Howard and Gwen were great supporters of the Gospel You may be happy to know that quite a few people came to know the Savior by seeing your lives and that of others. Because my wife just went to her Eternal Home in Heaven Thursday Dec. 02, I noticed your Mom’s promotion to Heaven. She certainly enjoyed a long life. You have our condolences. there is always a welcome for any of you if you would like to visit.
